As night fell, the pack slowly settled. The younger wolves were tucked into their quarters, the guards assumed their positions, and the leaders made their rounds one last time. Oscar paused outside the quarters he shared with Lyra, observing her settling in, adjusting her bedding, Cinder coiled softly within her. He allowed himself a quiet breath, the weight of responsibility pressing on his broad shoulders, and yet a small, unacknowledged part of him wondered at the shift in his heart.
