Juliette’s POV: The rising sun burned through the remnants of dust and smoke, casting long, golden streaks across the ruins of the fortress. I stood atop a ridge, overlooking the pack as they moved through the debris like ants rebuilding a colony. Liora’s voice rang out, crisp and commanding, directing squads to fortify weak points, organize patrols, and train the younger wolves in defensive formations. I could see the Warrior moving with precision among them, correcting stances, adjusting grips, showing them how to anticipate attacks before they happened. He was physically here, a pillar of strength for the pack, yet in my mind, the tether between us hummed like a living thing.

As far as Jack was concerned, he was an orphan. Up ahead, near the thickest part of the fight, two wolves he recognized were locked in a vicious battle with what looked like four, no, five, wolves. Enzo and Nina were fighting to hold on, but it was a losing battle. They were too outnumbered. Enzo howled in pain as one of the wolves caught him along the side with its claws. Jack didn’t even think before he darted forward. He shot the wolf closest to him, its large body falling to the ground. A moment later, the shift rippled through it and a human body remained. A stab of regret shot through him. They were rogues.

As soon as two wolves made their appearance, I sprinted down, noting instantly who they were as their scents permeated the air. They stopped in their tracks at the sight of me. Yes! The plan was working! Jasmine sprinted down the hill, coming in with her sneak attack, pouncing and digging her claws into Alpha Vic's back. He was like a wild bronco as he tried to throw her off, but Jasmine was so fucking good, and kept a good hold on him, not allowing him to knock her off. Even pregnant, she was a badass.

Alpha Knight ordered for them to form a circle so everyone could face the dozen rogue wolves all around them. There was something about these wolves. Their clothes were tattered, moldy and stained in places. Their eyes were red and distant, yet held cruelty. They all were Japanese by the looks of it and smelled like wolves. But there was something else. Something none of them could pinpoint yet. ‘Olive, you be careful,’ Wayne warned in their mindlink. She was facing the other way, her fists already bared ready in defense.

Looking around Danica could have sworn that a tornado ripped through the room. "Ash has been preoccupied with his research." Nigel explained catching Danica's gaze. "Recently the rogues have been on the rise and they've been using dirty means." "You know about that?" Danica blurted eyes widening. "Of course we know about it." Ash responded proudly. "Even though they don't really fall into any of the six creature groupings as friends of us wolves they are kept up to date on everything that is going on around the area." Mason explained.

I say steadily, “Listen to me carefully, there is another set of wolves we forgot to mention. Do either of you have a weapon on you?” “I’ve got my Beretta.” Canary said. “I’ve got my Beretta and I have a switch blade.” Sin said. Thank the Goddess for small miracles. “Give me the switch blade.” I say quietly. Sin passes it to me, “What’s going on?” “Rogues. Basically, they are thugs.” I said. Aiden looks at me, “I smell two.” “Then this should be easy.” I smirked. “Canary, Sin, stay close. Fighting wolves is different than fighting humans.”

She’s not going for any kill shots, but she’s certainly making people think twice about fighting her. I pull another nagata off one of the Invictus wolves just as I see two nagata slithering fast upon Jianyu. I start to run to intercept them when suddenly the two nagatas collide with a large, sheer purple wall out of nowhere. I stand there looking stunned as the two nagata lay on the ground groaning with obviously broken noses.

Eclipse growled in reply and I quickly shut my imaginary mouth. I get that I and Ivy are twins and everyone knows siblings fight but for our wolves to fight as well, it means they are twins as well. Except Ivy's wolf is a boy and when girls fight, the first thing we grab is hair. Which means, Ivy was gonna go bald soon. RIP his hair in advance. "Stop it!" Ivan growled as a command in our mind-linked. Ivy pulled himself back, submitting to his order along with Eclipse. "He's all yours." Eclipse said before pushing me out to face Ivan's anger.

I glance at Cillian and the guys and see that they’re still working on freeing themselves from the rogue wolves. “I don’t see how going to them now will make a difference. We’re all at a disadvantage. Shit! Where are these scumbags coming from?” She grumbles, peering at the incoming werewolves. “Oh, thanks the Moon Goddess! Bash is helping Cillian and the guys,” I announce as I immobilize a three-legged wolf. These wolves are impervious, they keep on advancing even when injured and almost at the brink of death. “You mean, Bash is helping Andrei and the guys,” she chuckles.
