I don’t shift, don’t scream, I just move. The moonbone dagger is in my grip before I even realize I’ve drawn it. I drive it clean into the rogue’s ribcage, twist, and rip. Hot blood sprays across my forearm. The rogue collapses with a strangled yelp. The second tries to flee but Zane grabs him by the throat and slams him into the earth with a growl that isn’t entirely human. Silence follows. I drop beside him, hands flying to his side. He’s pale. Cole groaned as he walked, his hand rested under his rib and Adam helped him. I led them to Sora and then went through the back passage while the fighting outside got louder. The explosions hit again and Cole carried a twin from Sora. The babies ears were covered with a thick layer of clothing and then the explosions stopped. I heard a wicked loud growl and Sora halted, turned his head. “It's Zane. He's here.” Adam started to pull him. “Then let’s move! He'll handle them but we can't risk the kids' lives.”
