“I can get it for you. What’s the name of the book?” I froze. I couldn’t come out and name it; the book didn’t necessarily have a title, per se. I ran a hand through my hair, leaving it standing on end. “It doesn’t have a title.” Another pause. “Your… book doesn’t have a title?” “It’s not really a book, necessarily. More of a series of historical notes.” “Ok,” Mark said, clearly unphased. “What does it look like?” “It’s dark green.” “How do you know?” Mark mused. He had a point.

“Hey… about what you saw earlier.” She jumped, clutching the book to her chest. “I—I didn’t see anything. I swear. I won’t tell anyone.” I smiled softly and stepped even closer, backing her gently against the shelves. “Relax. Professor Harlan and I… we have an understanding. But I saw how you looked at us. You didn’t run away because you were scared. You ran because it turned you on, didn’t it?” Her cheeks burned brighter. She shook her head quickly. “No… that’s not… I’m not—”

Two chapters from me. One from Noah. The book was at chapter fourteen of the first volume of the seven book series. At this rate we would finish the first volume in three weeks. I had already ordered the second. Noah closed the book. He put it on the bedside table. He looked at the ammonite. He looked at Adrian in the small chair. "You should stay," he said. The room was very quiet. Adrian looked at him. "At the hotel?" he said. Noah shook his head.

What was that supposed to mean? Me: Just curious. Logan: Curious, huh? Sounds more like jealousy to me. Me: Don’t flatter yourself. There was a pause, and then another message popped up. Logan: You’re cute when you’re flustered. Me: Focus, Logan. Are you going to the party or not? Logan: Probably not. Parties like that aren’t really my thing. But if you’re thinking about going, let me know. I sighed, tossing my phone onto the couch beside me. Logan’s answer was as frustratingly ambiguous as ever, but what annoyed me more was the flutter of relief I felt knowing he wasn’t planning to go. Was I jealous?
