The Third Room [MxM]

The Third Room [MxM]

The silence wasn't passive — it listened. Only three other students were up there. One with headphones hunched over architectural blueprints. Another asleep on a pile of highlighted Marxism texts. The third moved like a ghost between the shelves, never stepping too hard. Noah sat. Opened his book. Flipped past the pages he was supposed to read and settled on a sentence he'd already underlined, not remembering when. "Life escapes; and perhaps without life nothing else is worth while." He stared at it for a long time, his fingers curled slightly against the edge of the paper. The ink shimmered faintly under the old library lights — weak, uneven fluorescents that cast shadows in directions they

Accidental Bibliophiles

Accidental Bibliophiles

He asks and I chuckle. "This book is about a war between dragons and shit. It's not like a cook book or a knitting class." I say, chewing on some ice as I type up the description online. "Stop chewing on ice, you're gonna ruin your teeth." Jack barks through the phone, but I ignore him. "Yes or no? I'm sure Mrs. B would just give us the books. You're the one who was bitching that we need to try new things." I say and he groans a little, obviously annoyed by me.

Ensnared

Ensnared

Pocket change. I lean back, fingers splayed across the dark wood of my desk. The sun has climbed the afternoon peak, the castle quiet. A rare day off after the Forum. My boredom gnawed at me. “I suppose I should join the others,” I mutter. Cassian materializes, as expected, draping a dark scarf over my shoulders and guides me toward the lounge hall.

Obsessed (Book #12 in the Vampire Journals)

Obsessed (Book #12 in the Vampire Journals)

One slip, and the old man would be blinded. “All right!” Aidan cried at last, his voice etched with agony. “I’ll tell you. I’ll tell you.” Kyle let him down. The old man was trembling all over. He wobbled over to his desk and pulled out a leather-bound book. He flung it across the room at Kyle. “It’s in there,” Aidan said, his voice drenched with regret. “That address will lead you to Scarlet Paine.”

The Path Less Traveled

The Path Less Traveled

They knew better. I remember one day when Venus came home from school and she walked straight past Zeus without even looking at him. This was a few months before we left for training. Venus had just turned twelve at the time. After bribing her with chocolate chip cookies and chocolate milk he got her to tell him what was wrong. Apparently a group of boys at school were always picking on her about not having any friends. Normally she handled it well. Able to give it right back to them. Venus had always chosen to keep to herself. We knew she thought friends were a waste of time. She was constantly studying, or reading, or just listening to music. She said friends would come later, but for rig

Great quicker read overall. There were unexpected plot twists and well developed banter throughout. The author brings life to different attitudes that aren’t commonly written into novels, which I loved. My only note is that I WISH the author would write more about the lives of Sara & Tab’s pups!

THE GOODBYE HE MISSED

THE GOODBYE HE MISSED

"Can we go to the bookshop?" They went. The shop occupied a converted house three streets over, with a resident dog named Duchess who greeted Noah by name and a whole shelf dedicated to field guides that Noah navigated with the confidence of a regular. He selected three books with careful deliberation — one on Pacific Northwest raptors, one a slim volume on migratory patterns he'd apparently been eyeing for weeks, and a third that surprised Adrian: a novel about a woman who builds something from nothing, its cover showing a small house under construction against a wide sky. "That one's for Mom," Noah said, setting it on the counter with the others. "She'll like it. Because she's Mom."

great start..concise with nuances. hope it would end the same way. not tooo many chapters that the main characters became watered down with so many side stories. i'm reading along slowly... so that i don't have to wait for updates. keep up the good work, dear author!
Miriam
I'm only on chapter 5 of this story and I'm so invested. It's well written and I love how the female lead, Sophia, is depicted. I hope things work out for her and the children, away from the man who doesn't recognize the value in the family he's neglected.

Escaping the World: Running from Now

Escaping the World: Running from Now

“I have a couple of outlines as well. You can be possessive of me, but not in public.” “I’ll try my best but I make no promises.” He smirks at me. “And you have to stay in your box. You can’t try and cross into other areas of my life.” “My box? What?” “I keep my life separate by compartmentalising. Each area has a box. When I’m I a certain area of my life, the box lid is taken off and everything can fill my brain. When I’m done with that area, everything is neatly packed away and the lid is put on so it doesn’t spill into other areas. You fall into my social life. Please don’t try escape and jump into other areas.”
