Nolan looked at me like I had just spoken in an alien language. Then he laughed. A low, confident sound. “I’m not leeching,” he said. “I’m the Beta of Wolves-Heaven.” My stomach dropped. Great. So I had just grabbed the Beta… the same Beta rumored to fight beside Merrin like a living weapon… by the collar. I stepped back slowly. Very slowly. But Nolan caught my wrist gently. “What’s wrong?” he asked, leaning in slightly. “You don’t want to fight anymore?” I slapped his hand away instantly.

“The stronger the wolf, the more mates they can sustain bonds with. Four mates means you’re much more powerful than anyone knows.” Despite the indignation that coursed through me—having a fourth mate felt like a curse, not a blessing—part of me was curious about what this mysterious fourth mate might be like. Was he another cocky asshole like Lucas? Another brooding jerk like Rowan? Or something else entirely? But mostly, I just hoped I never ran into him. One of them fled into Silverfang territory.” “That’s not possible,” Solon said quickly. “Our borders are secure. No rogue would be able to make it past our warriors.” Nolan raised his eyebrows at Solon’s quick response before chuckling. “Are you sure about that? I made it through just fine without your warriors noticing.” I kept a neutral expression, but I was panicking. What did Nolan mean he entered our territory without our warriors noticing? Nolan let him go and the beta coughed as he sucked up air. Noah is Nolan's younger brother. He was more on the feminine side.
