Chapter 51: The Sovereign Horizon The morning sun came up over the East River. Filled the Brooklyn studio with a nice bright light. This light made the room feel fresh and new. Elena stood by an old oak table. Her hands were flat on the table. In front of her were the real books of the Nora Vale Imprint series. The Nora Vale Imprint series was finally done. The covers of the books were simple and nice to touch. They did not have the pictures that people usually see on digital books.

Nora nodded, still looking unsure. Kelly sat down beside me and handed me the bag. “I brought food. You probably haven’t eaten.” I glanced inside. Soup. Warm, homemade, and comforting. I swallowed. “You didn’t have to.” She smirked. “I wanted to. Now eat before I force-feed you.” I sighed but took the container anyway. I wasn’t even hungry, but the warmth in my hands felt grounding. Nora watched us with an unreadable expression. After a moment, she cleared her throat. “She really loves you.”

Then, she eagerly nudged Henry toward Wesley, saying, "This is my husband, Henry Crowley. Thank you for taking care of me all these years on his behalf." When the guests below heard his identity, the shock on their faces grew even greater. Nora stood up straight, proudly scanning the surroundings. She gave me a provocative glance toward the window where I stood. However, the next second, the police officers rushed up to Nora and pinned her down. Wesley, who always treated her kindly, now had overwhelming fury in his eyes. He slapped her hard and demanded sternly, "Where's John Xander?! What have you done to the air defense expert I worked so hard to recruit?!"

She glanced sideways at Mary. Mary was writing. Writing fast. Traitor. Nora swallowed. “…Okay. Think. Think.” Nothing. Her heart started beating faster. Slowly… carefully… she slipped her phone out under the desk. Just a quick check. Just one answer. She unlocked it. Typed quickly. Her eyes scanned the screen. “Yes… yes… okay…” “Miss Oscar.” Nora froze. Her blood ran cold. Slowly… very slowly… she looked up. Professor Nelson stood right beside her.

‎Elena’s POV ‎I pulled up to Nora’s apartment, my beat-up sedan looking out of place on her rough street. Her call had come out of nowhere, her voice tight, trying to sound casual. A gala? A Vivienne Caldron gown? I’d known Nora forever, and she wasn’t the type for fancy events or designer dresses. Something was off, and it wasn’t just Elias’s overdose or her vague answers about this “anonymous rich guy.” Ever since she called Mikhail Romanov, our boss, to find her brother, my suspicions had been growing. Nora was hiding something big, and now this gala and that insane dress? I wasn’t leaving without answers.

Every single thing Leone had bought for her, every piece of clothing, jewelry… Everything… Except for a note from Leone saying: ‘Come back to me. I miss you. I love you.’ Norah had asked the men to stack the boxes in the den, closed the door on them, made a huge breakfast for David, ate none of it, and had cried in the shower before forcing herself to leave for work, already thirty minutes late. So, when she parked her car outside her new job and saw the cameras running at her like real weapons, Norah was already on her last nerve. The journalists attacked her from every part, asking questions about the Weldon case, about her future plans in the States.

“Do you know?” Nora shook her head. “I have a few guesses, of course. He talked sometimes.” I waited. I imagined it was hard to talk about her life with Kyle. Even without being a vampire he was an awful, cruel man. “I’m pretty sure he was a spy,” Nora said. “He asked me things, about the nobles I cleaned up after. He was annoyed that I wouldn’t spend much time around the soldiers. But it wasn’t safe for me to be around the fighters.”

Anna's POV Nora's eyes flickered briefly before she took a deliberate sip of her wine. The crystal glass caught the light, casting ruby shadows across the pristine tablecloth. "About two years ago, we met at an industry cocktail event," she said, her voice unnervingly calm. "Kieran slipped something into my drink." My stomach clenched as though I'd swallowed ice. I recognized the flat affect in her voice-the protective numbness that comes from retelling a trauma you've learned to package neatly for others.

I just want her to be dead and gone for good," she said as I felt so much pain and pity for Rhea, hearing that part from her own mouth. I felt like she could do it anytime because Rhea was frustrating her, but at least we were able to stop today’s meeting. And Killian did not do anything drastic to his brother.
