I didn't comment, just scanned them gave her the total, took the money, kept the change like she'd asked and said goodbye. It was only after she left that I could let out a breath of genuine air. Justin mumbled. "Thanks, I can take it from here," Nora said coldly as she extended her hand to collect the travel box from me. She was standing between the wardrobe and me in a way that prevented me from advancing any further. I locked eyes with her, her sheer icy glare causing my heart to ache. I lowered my gaze and hesitatingly let go of the bag. Her hands brushed mine as she took the bag from me, causing tiny sparks of electricity to flood through me. "This is not the time, Ken!" I internalized, warning my wolf, blaming him for the way I was feeling at the moment despite knowing those feelings weren't emanating from him alone.

I walked to the library and sat next to the window, I looked at my project and now I need to find some books. I walked through the bookshelfs and search for the architect section. I'm looking for a watertank and some electric placement book. I looked through every book clearly and oh there it is. I tried to reach it but I can't. It's on the top of the bookshelf, I need to take a ladder. I walked away to grab the ladder. I got back to the architect section again and I put the ladder to reach the book but the book is gone. Suddenly I found the book on the middle shelf, I looked around. I guess someone must have been taking it and put it there.

I read the first line and set it back down, I left the food untouched, I crossed to the bar instead. I poured myself a glass of whiskey, it burned less than it usually did. I carried the glass toward the window, outside, the sky beyond the grounds had started to turn gold. The fountain near the gardens reflected the last of the sunlight. I rested one hand against the glass. I knew Nora had spent five years in London. I knew she had returned with Beaumont under her control. I knew she had taken Andrade before I realized she was even bidding. I knew Alexander Ashton had met her when she was carrying twins.
