Scared of being caught, I drop the Breeder on the floor and lean onto the shelf. Using as deep a voice as I can produce, I reply, “Uh, browsing for a book.” “What was that sound?” When the Breeder hit the floor, it was a little louder than I intended. “Uhm… encyclopedia,” I say. Quickly, I grab a large book off of the shelf, which may or may not be an actual encyclopedia, and drop it onto the ground next to the Breeder’s head. “Never had much use for them.”

“Fuck yeah. It’s better than what you’re doing, sitting in here by yourself.” “Do you even know what I’m doing?” His eyes fell to my desk. “Studying? Or plotting out your course around campus?” Well. “What if I told you neither?” He snickered. “I wouldn't believe you one bit. You’re one of those girls. I can already tell.” “One of those girls? What does that mean?” He shrugged. “The kind of girls that have already cracked open their books and smelled them.” “What’s wrong with something like that? Maybe people like the way a fresh book smells.”

It could be stronger for some and softer for others. But the book was vague. It spoke in riddles more than explanations. I frowned. “That’s it?” I muttered. I flipped through a few more pages but found nothing new. It did not explain the mark clearly. It did not explain the pull I felt toward Lucien. Disappointed, I closed the book and stood up. “I’ll try another one,” I said quietly. As I turned to move toward the shelves, my hand brushed against my hair. The pin loosened.

She opens it and almost drops it to the floor. Ann gurgled with laughter at her reaction. She said in an amused voice, “It’s okay. I know it’s a shock to your innocent mind but these will teach you how to please him if he comes for you.” “The things we do for affection…” she murmured to herself, gingerly opening the book. She blushed at the images of the book. “Is this even possible?” she whispered in shock and awe. The maid grinned and gently stroke her hair, “You will be a surprised child of the extent men and women would do please each other.”

I read the book she used for a topic and some of these quotes aren’t from the book, so they have no business being in quotes. However, it makes for a good read, and everything is spelled correctly. This isn’t a failing grade, maybe a D at best.” “I was confused with the quotes because I also don’t remember any of that being in this book,” she said, peering up at him. “I knew you’d know for sure. Thank you, Professor Evergreen.” He nodded and returned to his seat, much to her dismay. She wanted him to remain close to her, but she knew stuff like that would happen in due time.
