Cameron asked. He shrugged. "I could, but not since college. I just need a breakthrough with this app I'm writing.” He said. He turned to Cameron, leaving what he was doing. "You know, it's already brilliant, but it's not as I want it to be. I just need for it to act that exact way, and yowza. It's perfect then.

This wasn't over. Not by a long shot.

I didn't need trouble; I had enough of it already. So, instead of fighting, I spent most of my time in the library or on the internet. I was learning; teaching myself about anything that interested me. I had a knack of remembering things; not everything, I don't have a photographic memory or anything (and, honestly, there's no such thing as a photographic memory – that's just a fiction you find in books, movies and television), I just had a very good memory. I was also really good at applying things I learned in one field to problems I discovered in another. Correlative analysis, I think I heard someone call it once. Whatever it was, I turned out to be really, really good at it.

Not a perfect story. A human one.

It'd been years since anyone talked to me like that. "I'm not upset. If you don't close the deal, just resign." Ellie went still. "Deals depend on both sides. I can't control that." I let out a cold laugh. "Then why are you riding a horse?" "I—" My eyes dragged over her. "You looked pretty good out there. Done this before?" Ellie clearly had no clue what I was getting at. "I rode a few times when I was younger." The way she handled that horse said otherwise. She wasn't new.

Orlando groaned his "I like that fact that he's happy but I don't like this version of him." I chuckled, "It's troublesome." I admitted. Macmillan just shrugged and decided to go back to his book. I wonder why he's being more booky than usual...

“How long would you be borrowing these?” I take the books back to the desk and begin to pen down her details. I record the date and the book info, my hand shaking slightly. I wait for her to crack a joke or complain about the traffic. Nothing. “Did I do something wrong?” The question comes out of my mouth before I can stop it, desperate. “Nope,” she answers. Her voice is monotonous, stripped of its usual warmth. “Just ‘nope’? Are you sure? If I overstepped with the business advice or if something happened with the deal...”

No clue! I can’t deny my attraction to Hunter, although I blame it on the now living bond. I’m just glad he didn’t mark me, even though I felt Morpheus’s desire to. I was so confused! The wolf wants me, but the man doesn’t! With a huff, I cleaned my dirty dishes and then headed to the library—my favorite part of the house. Sliding open the double doors, the scent of leather and books filled me. I glanced around, knowing nothing had changed in this room. I grabbed an old favorite, Jane Eyre, and cuddled on the dark leather armchair.
