It’s beady eyes were fixed keenly on Nova, but as she approached they slipped from her form to where I sat. Those eyes were bright with an intelligence that made my skin crawl. A chill washed over me as it yowled again. What kind of cat was that thing? “…all the time, it’s getting weird.” Nova muttered to herself as she scooped the feline into her arms. “I’ll be right back,” she called out.

As he immersed himself at the finale where the cat finally unravelled the truth about her owner's past, the bell to the main door chimed a cheerful tune. His eyes perked up.

CHAPTER THIRTY- EIGHT Nala’s POV To think this little shit of a cat hated my guts when we first met. Now the furry traitor was curled up on my pillow like we'd been married for ten years. "Make that two," I say, not leaving her gaze. A minute later he places the drinks in front of us, her hand immediately reaching out to bring it to her lips. "Katherine," she says after taking a slow sip, "but my friends call me Kat." "Adam, but everyone calls me Emilio." "I think I'll stick with Adam," she replies haughtily, daring me to tell her otherwise. I lean in closer to her, trailing her body with my eyes again. I can't stop looking at her legs. She notices, and again raises an eyebrow.

"Barnaby," Cale said. "What?" "The cat. You want a cat named Barnaby." "Yes. I do." "That is a happy fact. Cats are soft. They vibrate at a healing frequency." Elion smiled. He couldn't help it. "You remembered the cat," Elion said. "I prioritized it." "Why?"

Eventually, I got used to the grind. Right when I started feeling proud of myself, Missy got pregnant. She gave birth to a snow-white little fluffball. Yeah. A very strong sense of self-preservation. ” The ocular orbs of Rachel performed an upward rotational motion. The dumb feline darts at me, scratching me across the face and I snarl, the sting burning me and I grab her around the muzzle. I feel something breaking as she claws my hand before I throw her across the room. She hits the corner of the chest of drawers hard, and I’m satisfied when I hear something break. She lets out a pitiful meow before her tiny body tumbles to the floor. Better. Stupid cat. What kind of werewolf keeps a cat, anyway? I glance down at her neck. This one was a little different… but he said it would accomplish what I was failing at… The little pinprick on her neck is already healing…

Luna, my ever-curious cat, sat amidst a pile of scattered books, her green eyes wide with mischief. “Looks like someone’s been studying a little too hard,” I said, scooping her up. Luna purred contentedly, nuzzling against my cheek. As I straightened the books, a strange sense of peace settled over me. The nightmare still lingered, a dark stain on the edges of my mind. But Adrian’s presence, his unwavering support, had offered a lifeline.

I smile and drink on my water. "You're planing something stupid, Caty," Chase warned. I ignored him and I finished down my water in one swing. "You really want me to get a cat?" "Former: I am.
