Sisters Of Darkness

Sisters Of Darkness

So you can tell Ines that there won't be a book. “Sorry, I didn’t expect to meet someone noble here,” I murmured, lowering my eyes to the ground. Thoughts were swept by frightened birds. What is a catcher doing in our outback? Did the check arrive a few days early? The numbness was gone from me, and I frantically tried to figure out what to do next. Did he understand that I'm black? How can I deal with it? The catcher, though skinny, but the strength in him is unmeasurable, I have already managed to check this.

Risks Of Loving You

Risks Of Loving You

I turn the phone back off and return it to the desk. Finally, I turn back to the bookshelf. I pick up a book I found titled The Catcher in the Rye . I recognized the title as a classic piece of American literature, but I've never read it myself. His copy looks distinctly different from the rest of his books. The others look either new or almost new, but this one looks as though it has been read several times. I settle on the couch, open the book, and begin to read. ~~~ I freeze when I hear thumping outside on the porch. The doorknob rattles. I stare at the door in terror. A loud knock sounds. It's probably Ryan. It's got to be him. Definitely.

Anna's Decision

Anna's Decision

You're fired. Fired. It was the worst news in a long time. I remembered an old book, ‘The Catcher in the Rye'. The protagonist is at some point left alone in the middle of the city, penniless and heartbroken, just as I was at that moment. I dicreetly waved goodbye to Jack, who seemed to be trying to tell me something I simply chose to ignore.

Teaching her a lesson

Teaching her a lesson

This promised to be the best summer break of my life. That Tuesday we started our final book of the year in senior English,The Catcher in the Rye. It was a quick unit, one of the few books where I had more troubles with students reading ahead than keeping up. A short book with fluffy assignments designed in part to shore up weaknesses in the grades of our graduates-to-be,Catcher was a welcome respite from denser material. Not only was it usually a crowd-pleaser, but with students on their way to starting jobs, college, families, the whole rest of their lives, it was a good opportunity to address the theme of growing up, its messiness and confusion and allure and unpleasantness. That I was sl

This book although taboo, brilliantly done. Original content and vividly described. Well paced. Thoroughly enjoyed and Im not even done with it yet. 30 chapters left. Def worth the read and def should be rated higher. Must be cuz of the subject matter though.

Really well-written, and very hot! It is so nice to read a book on one of these platforms without egregious spelling and grammatical errors! It lists this book as ongoing, but there haven’t been updates in a while. I would love more!

Catching Jane

Catching Jane

I can hear the blood pounding in my ears as the announcer reads out the sentence that will dictate how the rest of my life is going to go. “With the 20th pick in the draft, the New York Yankees select, Noah Baringer, Billmore College." Jane leaps to her feet, jumping up and down with excitement as she clasps my arm. She gives me a hug as I get to my feet, still a little dazed but finally sapping out of it as I make my way to the stage. If her reaction and the applause from the crowd wasn’t enough to convince me that this is real, then the announcer passing on the hat to me does. I put it on, passing by the line of relevant people I’m required to shake hands with for the photo ops.

Catch Me If You Can

Catch Me If You Can

But he hadn't always been like this. I had been ten years old when Dad had taken me to the red-light district. He had handed me a single red rose and said gently, "Cherry, remember, whoever takes this flower, you'll go with them. Do you understand?" I hadn't asked him why. Seeing that tenderness on his face for the first time had left me speechless. When I hadn't responded, he had grown agitated, grabbing my arm and shaking my frail body. It was only at that moment I had recognized the father I had known all too well. He had been an alcoholic addicted to gambling and only knew how to hurt me and Mom.
