"Pages forty through sixty. That is what the implications section needs." Mira opened the notebook to page forty and read. She was quiet for a long time. Elara sat across from her and waited. After forty minutes Mira set the notebook down and said: "The part about the full scope and the gap being visible only against the background of the full scope. The hosting, the VPN routing, the payment methods used to create the accounts, these trace back to a network we've seen before." I looked at the map. At the centre of it, connected to more lines than anything else, a single node.

It was about what had been done and what had been undone and what was being built. I set the paper down. It took three days and by the end we had seventy two subnetworks of varying sizes all connected through Rin and me as central nodes. The pressure in my head decreased immediately. Instead of feeling one thousand individual presences I felt seventy two group consciousnesses. It was still overwhelming but it was manageable. The network could stabilize at this size or it could keep growing until the subnetwork structure cannot hold it anymore."
