My body collided with his, knocking him away from Benita just in time. We tumbled across the ground, a chaotic mix of fur and vampire strength. I landed on top of him, pinning him down. A deep, vibrating growl erupted from my chest, echoing through the clearing like a thunderclap. The sheer force of my growl made everyone freeze in their tracks but not Damien. He kept on hissing at me while struggling against my hold. But my grip was unyielding, fueled by a primal fury that surged through my veins.

She looked at me inquisitively but I guess she decided not to mind. “Good thing I saw you. You’re actually friends with Doc Zion?” My brows furrowed as the mention of the unfamiliar name made me think twice if it really was unfamiliar or was it too familiar that hearing it from someone else is new? I don’t know, really. “Who?” I ask again, this time giving her my full attention. Zion is a very common name but I don’t think I’m friends with any Zion. “Doctor Zion Mendezuela..?” She said, a bit confused now.
