Cord breathed, his golden eyes reflecting the pale glow.
"It's an antenna," I said, wiping the blood from my mouth and forcing myself to stand. "But it won't catch the moon's gravity from inside this foundry. We have to mount it."
"Mount it where?" Corren asked, staring at the forty-foot hovering spear.
I looked up at the ceiling of the forge, and then instinctively turned my gaze toward the center of the city.
"The highest point in Aethelgard," I said, a cold, terrifying resolve settling over my exhausted mind. "The roof of the Grandmaster’s Spire. We are going to nail this tuning fork to the top of my tower, and we are going to ring the bell."
