His light grey wings came out as he took off into the air. Like that would stop her. He really was an idiot. Faye jumped up into the air as she released a powerful blast at him. It hit his front, so she threw another one which was aimed at his wings. An inhuman shriek filled the air as the Moon Fire ripped through his wings. Gravity yanked his body downwards, and it thumped against the ground with a disgusting crunching sound. Not sure what broke but did not really care either. She stalked forward and was pleased with the outcome as he tried to move backwards. But he was seriously injured.

It was like he had stepped right into the heart of a raging fire. He seemed to not be himself as Alpha took over, then suddenly a blanket of flames flew up about three feet off the ground on either side of him, glowing brightly. His head was bowed low before he finally looked up, his eyes flying open a deep fiery pit of gold, that showed no emotion at all, and Instantly the flames surrounding him died out, the blanket of flames on either side of him, hanging three feet in the air suddenly cooled, fading away into two huge golden wings, smooth like a plate of golden metal, and two shimmery horns protruding from each point of conjunction.

My words did nothing but enrage him further, and he started to run towards me, hands outstretched ready to place them around my neck. But, before he could reach me, the familiar sounds of large wings flapping in the air met my ears. Fallon and I both looked up, Thale’s red dragon suspended above us. He exhaled flames in Fallon’s direction, although missing him so as to make sure I was not caught in the cross-fire. I needed to get further away.

He took another slow drag from his cigarette before exhaling, the smoke curling lazily in the dimly lit gym. “Not all flames die out quickly, son,” he mused, tapping the ash off his cigarette. “Some need a slow, controlled burn before they truly turn to ash.” I clenched my jaw. “I don’t have the patience for slow.” He hummed in amusement, his sharp eyes watching me like he already knew how this would end. “Then make her burn the way you want. But be careful not to get burned yourself.” I let out a dry chuckle, rolling my shoulders to shake off the irritation settling in my bones.

Austin and I hadn't talked for days. I hurriedly made my way to the wooden hut. As soon as I opened the door, the familiar figure I'd been yearning for days appeared before me.
