I say as I race to catch up to Brooke. “Bye, Mom! We’ll be back soon!” Cyrene says. “Don’t go too far, Iniko. You’re getting close to your first shift,” she calls out. “We’re just going to the mountain,” I call back. “Go, Kiko, go!” Cyrene says, encouraging me to catch up to Brooke. I love that Cyrene is nine years old and still calls me Kiko. She’s the only one who does. It’s just like she still calls Cal Calgon. No one cares to correct her because she’s Cyrene.

His dark eyes studied the younger man as he closed the door behind him. “You look like you’ve just seen a ghost,” Nero quipped. “I might have,” Nico murmured under his breath, settling into the seat opposite Nero. “Or maybe I’m about to.” There was a brief moment of silence in which Nico studied Nero carefully, making the younger man irritated. He narrowed his eyes at his second as he raised the glass to his lips. “For God's sake, Nico. Out with it!” Nico frowned. “What are you up to? You’re unpredictable, boss. You humiliate her in front of that woman, then summon a vet for her cat. Why?”

Lena's POV. I hummed a sweet, melodious tune as I walked down from the market with a bag of groceries in my hand. I couldn't get his voice out of my mind. I was excited. Too excited. He promised to marry me, he promised to make me his Luna. And even as I silently flung open the door, I could hear his voice in my head. Literally. “Yes! oh god! Yes! Come on, fuck the shit out of me” a loud moan snapped me out of my head. I froze looking straight ahead at the couch.
