Obligations And Contracts Novels & Stories

In essence, it was the same. Although Matthew always emphasized that our relationship was cooperative, reading the marriage contract we signed, anyone could clearly see the difference in all aspects of the two sides. In the contract, Matthew had only one obligation to pay me and I had an obligation to obey him. It was no different from a normal employment contract. I seemed to have forgotten how bad it felt to be short of money. If right now, because I wanted to do my own thing, I made a big mistake and caused great loss to Matthew. I had to compensate Matthew, then what should I do?

“I… I —” “Shut up and memorize every detail ” he interrupted, taking the contract from her hands with an effortless motion. His fingers brushed hers, sending a shiver she despised, one that betrayed how alive her fear—and something darker—made her feel. “Look at it. Read it. Every word.” Her eyes scanned the clauses again: Obedience. Exclusivity. Marital obligation. Financial entanglement. Public compliance. Full disclosure. Her pulse hammered against her ribs. “Marital obligation? That… that’s—how can that even…?”

Lucas speaks up again, leaning closer. His muscles ripple through his tight suit. He’s downright threatening me. I grit my teeth, refusing to be baited. "Obligations?" I repeat, my voice dangerously calm. I take a deep breath. "Is that what we’re calling it now?" Magnus, the only sane one among the group, places a set of documents on the table and pushes them in my direction. "Review the marriage contract, Nico. I’m sure you’ll find where you’re lacking. And be careful."

"It would resolve the heir clause problem regardless of what any contract says." He rolls his eyes and pushes off the desk, moving toward the alcohol cabinet along the far wall. I open the contract on the desk in front of me and begin actually reading it, which he apparently did not do before signing, because he skimmed it with the attention span of someone who finds thoroughness beneath them. The business terms come first. Mutual obligations between organisations. Clauses for managing disagreements. And then the gaping absence where the heir clause used to be, crossed out with the enthusiastic aggression of a child having a tantrum with a pen.

"Why don't you make an offer to someone else?" "Because I also have shame. They will say that in my condition, I still have the urge to fulfill my needs. And I also don't want them to spread rumors about my situation." "Do you think I won't discuss your situation?" "I will make you sign a contract." "Then sign with them too."

I had to make sure that I understood it correctly. "You have your option to back out," he reminded. "I won't force you unless you sign this contract, it means you agree to everything." But how he would explain it to his family once I backout? Is it that easy to replace me? "What kind of obey? I've been doing it since the moment I stoop my feet in your company," I said. He smiled. "That's different kind of obey. It's like we're playing a game, Iris. An obey punishments has rules and another consequence awaits if you fail to do it."

DO you know the saying expect the unexpected? I also thought that we could be happy until we reach our dreams together. Just a few more weeks and we’ll finally get the diploma that we both wanted. After that, he promised to travel around the world with me. He said a lot of promises to me and there I am, happy and hoping that he could fulfill his promises to me. I was the happiest when he said that he will marry me after we graduate. But all of the hopes vanish in the air just like a bubble.

I voiced our confusion, "What do you mean by that?" Mr. Adler cleared his throat and explained, "Sir, you are obligated to fulfill the responsibilities assigned to you by Mr. Dominique, as per the agreement you both signed." The realization hit me like a ton of bricks. The contract I had signed with my father-in-law suddenly came flooding back to my mind, causing me to blurt out in disbelief, "You must be joking! I only took over a small company just a few weeks ago. This is too much too soon!"

- I wanted to know and he laughed. - Let's take a look at this contract and I'll think about your case. And that's what he did, Miguel went over the contract from top to bottom and back to front, until he was satisfied and assured me and Anthony that despite the scary size, it basically said that I did everything of my own free will and that I give up my rights as the mother of the baby, and that all my expenses during the pregnancy would be Anthony's responsibility, and with that in mind, I did what was expected and signed it.

I was really worried for her because Anna deserves all the happiness in this world and she deserves a man that'd treat her like a queen. I picked up my phone and was about to dial her number when I noticed Dominic walking towards me. He still looked cold and angry like he looked when he stormed out of the sitting room and when he got to me and he stretched out two papers to me. They were contract papers, like agreement papers, the one that binds people together in terms and conditions. "We should sign a contract," he said as I started to read through the agreement, "since we don't have an emotional basis." Fair enough, I thought to myself as I continued to read through to be sure of what exa
