I snapped my fangs inches from the rogue's cowering, bloodied face, eliciting a piteous whine of pure distress from the wretch. The SUV spun wildly, rolling once before crashing into a ditch near the edge of the woods. Silence. Then, ringing. I was upside down, dangling from my seatbelt. The shock was profound, but the suppressant kept the fear away. "Stay secured!" Zev roared at me. He looked perfectly fine. He ripped the damaged door open. He looked out at the scene. "Ambush!"
