The jungle looked to push in about them, the darkness increasing thicker with each passing moment.
Just as they entered a little clearing, a powerful growl resonated through the air, freezing everyone in place.
“What was that?” Isabella whispered, her voice shaking.
Alexander didn’t answer, his eyes roaming the darkness. The snarl came again, closer this time.
“Stay behind me,” he murmured, his knife glinting in the thin moonlight.
Lucian moved to Isabella’s other side, his weapon drawn. “Whatever it is, we can take it,” he muttered firmly, yet his voice reflected his concerns.
