“I’m sorry, Alicia. I can’t change the past, but I’ll do whatever it takes to make things right. Please, just give me a chance. I don’t care how long it takes. I’ll fight for you, for Caleb, for us.” A tear slipped down my cheek, and I quickly wiped it away, furious at myself for letting him affect me. No. I couldn’t let him in. Not again. “You can’t win me back with promises,” I said, my voice cutting through the air like a blade. “You lost that right a long time ago. And you’ve lost your chance to be Caleb’s father. You don’t get to come back into our lives just because you’ve had a change of heart. You made your choice.”

Not this time. This ends today.

“Shawn, I’m coming to you with our baby.” … I was back at Shawn’s funeral when I opened my eyes again. My body felt translucent. No one could see me. But it was all right. I was dead now, which meant I could see my Shawn again. I scanned the room and searched for his presence. Finally, I saw him. He was standing beside Jenna. I instinctively rushed toward him. “Shawn, I finally found you! We’re having a baby!” However, my hands passed right through him. Shawn did not seem to hear me. He turned to comfort his grieving parents and said, “Dad, Mom, don’t cry. It’s me. I’m not dead.”

"I promised I'd take you to the beach and up the mountains to watch sunsets. Wake up, please. Open your eyes and look at me." He held me, sobbing hard. The other doctors were shocked but didn't stop him. He rambled about old times and plans we'd had. His voice broke with every sniffle. "I won't lie again. Come back, please. Just look at me once more." Before I blacked out, footsteps scrambled around the bed. His regret came too late. I wished I would not meet him in another life.

Some sounded scared too. “What are you doing, you shouldn't have brought that up, at least not yet. But you know you will have to deal with this eventually, whether you want to or not. It could be and damn him.” I was lost now, talking to myself. I shook my head slightly. I was right. I had to face this sooner or later. I might as well start now but that was not enough evidence. I sighed deeply trying to focus on what these voices were saying but I couldn't and it felt like I couldn't breathe properly.

"Robyn, I promise you this will be the last time I would ever ask you to do anything for me ever again, I know that I wronged you and you don't want anything to do with me but I just need you to come through for me this one last time, please."
