Mile’s POV “I’ve missed this,” Grayham’s Granpa professed while shoving pancakes into his mouth. I smiled. The old man hasn’t eaten a proper meal in the last couple of days. He relied on fluids and some fruits because he lost his appetite but this morning, he seemed to have regained his appetite. He devoured a giant omelet and now, he’s not playing with the pancakes. “How’s work? Any trouble with the new investors?” Looks like he seemed chatty as well. He’s recovering. The painting is hundred of years old.” The smile on his lips faded as his face stared into the blank space remembering the past. His old folks must have died, since him and his mate are the only ones being introduced to me.

the old man happily orders. I take a little water first. The only thing I know doesn't have an enemy on this table. Then I start to eat the meal. My mouth is sore as I chew the food. The feast which is graciously prepared by the servants doesn’t feel that way in my mouth. Rather, it tastes like death. I force as much as I can down my throat, my gaze never leaving the face of the old man. I'm waiting for when his smile will fade into a scowl, but it never does. Rather, he eats the meal with even more excitement.
