Old Money Names 소설 & 이야기

Carla added. " It is Gerald Finland, our country's most notorious billionaire. Do you believe he actually turned out to be someone nice? He even said that the university's students shouldn't know that I am poor so he ordered some bodyguards of his to follow me around in one of the many cars he owns" I explained. " Fuck, I can't still believe it, hey Jenny, pinch me," Diana ordered. " Pinch me first, I honestly think I have accessed a fairy tale," Jenny replied.

Rachel said jokingly before going nearer to Maya to speak to her. "Now listen to me, you spoilt brat in denial, First of all, I'm Araceli fucking Garcia," Rachel started in a powerful tone. She knew just merely mentioning that she was a Garcia was the first step to make her terrible at her front, the Garcia was a feared name in the whole of the business world because while people like Harvey, the Baldwins, the Peru's, and other 20th century millionaires, the Garcias, the Miller's and the Azariahs are old money billionaires, talking about the 19th century old money, they had money even before salavery became a big business alongside cotton plantation.

“He told me I had to have a bachelor party at a strip club. Said it’s tradition or whatever.” I shook my head. Of course. I had almost forgotten how crazy my family was. My brother especially. The King family were strange, everyone knew that, but nobody dared say it to our faces. There are two types of wealth: old money and new money. If new money were the ones bragging about their wealth and craving attention, old money were the ones sipping tea while everyone already knew their names. And my family? We were at the very top of the ladder of old money. From generation to generation, we were basically untouchable.

Beau Chastain came from old money, and he was marrying new money in Felicity Holstein. The difference was Beau didn't give a shit about the number of dollars in a bank account-probably because he didn't know what it was like not to have them. Those same dollars defined Felicity. This was where old money and new money differed. Old money had always been; for generations, these families were rooted in wealth, so no one alive knew what it was like not to have it. Whereas, new money typically came about with the dot-com era, and they flashed it as often as they did their business cards. And Felicity was definitely a flasher.

Old man Montague, who wasn't too old then, was grateful. "Years later Montague helped my father out of financial straits. There was a debt my father owed, one that with accruing interest put more than a few of our family's assets at risk. Exhausting his usual options, my father went to Montague. They were even. Until..." I didn't need to hear until. I knew until. "Yes, I know that part. Now what?" "The old man wants our help again. The description fits him now. He's getting older and concerned about the future of his name and company."

I opened the form. The questions were precise. Financial capability. I laughed immediately I saw this, because tell me why the least net worth there is 100 million dollars. Wow! I ticked the 100 million dollar and above box. Family history. This was just a disguised name for what’s your family name, because they were literally asking for your surname and trust funds associated with your family name. This was an issue for me, because I need a fancy surname. I put Vane because that’s my paternal grandmother surname and she was from one of those old money, so I guess the name matters.

New money parents called the office, outraged and frightened, demanding reassurances they had no right to ask for. The old families didn’t call. They met. They shifted assets. They counted debts. And they waited to see how far the Sombras would go. Everyone understood, at least at the top, that Sombra power wasn’t the polite kind that came with trusts and trade councils. Their wealth had foundations older than banks and jagged islands, from offerings poured into soil and sea, from something that answered when called if the blood was right. Old money had lived alongside that darkness long enough to be afraid of it.

The Laurent dynasty had been one of the country's most powerful business families for decades. Their name appeared on buildings, hospitals, universities, hotels, and charitable foundations. They owned companies people used every day without ever thinking about who was behind them. Their wealth wasn't loud. It didn't need to be. It had been built over generations. Old money. The kind that didn't need to prove itself. Sophia turned another page. A photograph was attached. An older man stood beside a younger woman. Sophia recognized him immediately. “Lucien Laurent.” The investigator nodded.

Ally tells him. “He lied to you. Benson Ash is not a known name in the upper-class circles. He is still a nobody. Everyone who is anyone is only hearing about him now. He did not grow up rich. To them he is a newcomer. And in those high circles, a newcomer is an outsider. You will often hear people talk about old money. Old money is inherited money. Family money. Benson does not have old money. He would not be welcome between the rich and the famous. He is nothing to them and they sure as hell is not talking about him. Between those in the upper-class circles, Benson is seen as poor.” Ronald tells her. Ally watches him with interest.

It's been a wild ride, but we're still standing, ready to take on whatever comes our way. "I wonder if he's old, grumpy, ill-tempered? You know how old money people are, they can get a bit extremely obnoxious." I wondered out loud to my best friend Lyra. "I can't shake the thought—what if he's one of those old, grumpy types? You know, the kind with an ill-tempered demeanor? Old money folks can be extremely obnoxious," I mused aloud, sharing my concerns with my best friend Lyra.
