The bus rumbled to life, and Sophia gazed out the window as the cityscapes rolled by. She kept an eye out for familiar landmarks, her mind still reeling from the encounter with Ava. As the bus navigated through the streets, Sophia's gaze drifted to the parking lot of a nearby shopping center. Her heart skipped a beat as she spotted her car, parked among the other vehicles. Relief washed over her, mixed with a dash of confusion. How did her car end up there?

Through the falling snow, a dark shape appeared in the distance. A vehicle. Parked sideways across the narrow road. Blocking the only route down the mountain. Marcus hit the brakes. The vehicle skidded. Chloe grabbed the dashboard as the tires lost traction. Their car stopped only a few feet from the obstruction. Behind them, Lena's vehicle came to a halt. Nobody moved. The snow continued falling. Marcus stared at the blocked road. Then Chloe noticed something on the windshield of the abandoned vehicle. A white piece of paper. Taped beneath the wiper.

Cold night air rushes into the car, whipping through my air, the pheromones spread out. Behind me, Ronan stirs slightly again, his eyelids flutter open again. Two Alpha guards stand beneath the harsh beams, lazily monitoring the border.

She asked. Lexie's senses came flying back then. What had she just done? From the get-go, her plan had been to make it through this party by keeping her head down. A pair of headlights rounded the corner, sleek and fast. It wasn't Jax’s truck. It was the Porsche. ​The car screeched to a halt in front of the bus stop. The door swung open, and Chloe stepped out. She was still in her silk robe, a dark trench coat thrown over it, her hair a mess and her eyes wild.

We sat in silence and every few minutes, I was checking my watch and looking around to make sure that we stopped at Western Avenue.
