“Hey,” I whispered, voice cracking a bit. “It’s me again. I know I said I was done coming here last time, but… here I am. Yay.”

“You know all about the house and Nancy’s excitement about the new school,” I continued, trying to keep my voice steady. “I’ll be managing a bookstore there, and that’s not very exciting because from my research, the place sells old books. I’m not a fan of old books, Calder. That’s your thing.”
