I was overflowing with excitement. I leaned against the doorframe, watching as his brothers argued over the Christmas playlist. Like they do every single Christmas. Austin, my oldest brother loved and always claimed classic rock was “Christmas enough.” for everyone and would fight to defend his choice. Asher disagreed he had the Mariah Carey playlist locked and ready. And I promise you we’re all tired of hearing Mariah Carey at Christmas. And Axel, the youngest, was recording the chaos for his social media followers. He loved updating his fan girls of his chaotic family. We were constantly in the public eye and sometimes him doing that overwhelms me. I wonder to myself often if I didn’t play

I try to hide my inner turmoil from him, wanting only to bask in the serenity of being in his presence. “Good morning,” he whispers, pressing his lips gently against my bare shoulder. “Hi,” I whisper back, feeling almost shy, despite the intimacy we shared the previous evening. “Last night was amazing.” I feel him smile against me and we sit there for a moment, just wrapped around each other. “Do you think I’m your One?” he asks after a while, his voice low and gentle, yet tinged with something I can’t quite place.

"Are you tired of sitting around? Would you want me to play some music for you?" "Alright." "Which music do you prefer?" "One Direction song... Perfect." "Are you a directioner?" "Yes, why? Do you think it strange?" "No, Gemma, I'm a directioner as well!" He was overjoyed. "FOR REAL?" "Which of 1d's songs do you like best?" "Perfect?" "Mine is; they don't know about us." "I'm glad we love the same band and have the same musical tastes." Lincoln begins to play Perfect by One Direction.

I found myself wondering if it was the smile that made me go out with him in the first place. “I know them well. You took me home with you for Christmas last year and we spent an entire week enduring their questions and crude jokes.” “I think I can figure out which was which.” He laughed, a nice, deep chuckle that came from somewhere deep in his chest. “Shelly really is the complete opposite of you.” I smiled, thinking of my kid sister only twelve in my mind. She was obsessed with that new British boy band, One Direction. It was all she talked about when I went home over the summer.

“Oh my, look at those kids. They’re so in love!” “The girl is gorgeous, and the guy is handsome too!” “I wish my daughter had a cute boyfriend like him. Too bad she never leaves the house. She won’t even find an ugly one, let alone a handsome one.” Their voices faded as they walked away. I froze in place. Camelia had said she was busy… Why was Grayson here, then? Confusion churned inside me. Then, the answer came. At around 3:00 pm, Grayson posted new photos on his social media. It was a nine-grid collage. He was wearing a white suit. His pale skin was smooth and luminous under the light.

" Lucian seemed to have something to say, but in the end, he just gave a light kiss on my forehead and hurriedly left. Seeing him gradually fading away, I walked to open the fridge that had been ignored all along. The cold air hit my face, and I took out the gift box that had been forgotten for many days and put it on the table. Then I placed the severance decree beside the gift box. Dragging my suitcase out the door, I never looked back. The pack airport was bustling with werewolves. When the plane was taking off and I was about to have a rest, Lucian mindlinked me,

I knew nothing to do. “Mr. Damon already communicated that to us.” I sighed. Damon was too much. Even to my hair style? “Can I see?” I asked. “Of course.” She nodded. “He said that if you need specific changes that we should go according to your preference.” I had no preference at this point. She picked a catalogue up and opened it quickly to a spot. She pointed at a style and showed me. I blinked at it. Wow. Shoulder length, blunt cut, blonde.

Lydia's furious voice stabbed through the phone like a knife. I spoke slowly. "Manager Cross, did you forget? "Trash like me with ruined character would only affect the company's culture. I think it's better if I don't appear in front of you." I threw her exact words from the group chat back at her. She paused for several seconds before screaming. "Cut the crap! The chairman wants to see you! Get back here now!" I heard the anxiety beneath her impatience and could not help laughing softly.

I stand alone on the icy field, turning back every few minutes to look at the road behind me. When my hands grow numb from the cold, I scroll my social media feed and see a recent post from my younger sister, Giada Soave. Holding gifts in her arms, she sits beneath a luxurious crystal Christmas tree with my parents embracing her from both sides. Ivano stands behind her with his hand resting lightly at her waist and his eyes full of tenderness. The caption reads, "Merry Christmas, I'm grateful to spend the holiday with those who love me most!" The comments section buzzes with blessings, praise, and envious messages.
