CHAPTER 10 Anya’s POV I slipped back into my tiny office and let myself fall into the chair, my heart still beating too fast. My palms were damp, and I wiped them on my skirt while trying to breathe normally. I barely had time to gather my thoughts when the office phone rang sharply, the sound slicing right through my nerves. I grabbed the receiver. “Hello?” Orion’s voice came through, cold and sharp like ice pressed against skin. “Compile the financial data for your father’s company for the last fifteen years and bring it to my desk within the next hour.”

“While most of you were sleeping. You’re welcome.” Nolan choked on a laugh. Draven smirked. Lysander didn’t react. He never did. The team slowly leaned in - less skeptical now, more curious. Analytics Lady cleared her throat. “If we run these numbers… it might actually work.” “And it will,” I said. “Because today, I’m meeting with Orion Tech. They need a partner. We need a foothold. Their project is drowning, and they know it. We’ll pull them out - and they’ll owe us.”

A minute or so later, he finally nodded, but she didn’t release him. Onyx inhaled deeply, preparing himself to go back to a time that he hated—preparing himself to reveal something that might make his job to earn a place in her life even harder. “I wasn’t born in the Dawn Pack. My family is originally from a pack in Manhattan. They don’t have a plot of land; they purchased an apartment block that’s near a wooded area. The entire pack lives inside the block, and they use the wooded area to run in. One day, I was walking with my sister through the woods when we came across four human males. Their ages ranged from seventeen to twenty-one.”

Emily’s eyes widened. “So Helios can’t track it anymore?” Daniel shook his head. “No.” He pointed to the screen. “Helios can track it.” Emily blinked. “Then what’s the problem?” Daniel zoomed the map out. The Orion funds were now spreading like wildfire across hundreds of markets. Stock exchanges. Cryptocurrency chains. Private investment banks. The data looked like a storm exploding across the global economy. Ryan let out a low whistle. “That’s not money anymore.” Emily asked quietly, “Then what is it?”

I bit my lip now, wondering how much pain he must have been in while we fought. He smiled at that moment, seemingly enjoying this whole riot of emotions that must have been evident on my face. “I need to tell you something,” he said, and my back straightened at the seriousness in his voice. “Omnexa has started buying Quiver’s subsidiaries.” “Omnexa?” “Our company, baby.” “Oh,” I said, and he nodded. “Those subsidiaries were most hit by the influencer business and the money we’re offering was too much to resist.”

Onyx called her when he sensed that their call alone wasn’t helping the wolves. “How far can you go with your strength as a healer?” Onyx asked her calmly. She narrowed her eyes in confusion, but slowly her expression straightened. “You…. You want to channel my strength as a healer to all of them?” she asked calmly, still working on Madeline, as Madeline was still critical. She had covered her face with an oxygen mask and started cleaning her blood to wash whatever amount of wolfsbane out of her body. “No, I am going to absorb your strength and then channel it to others through the combined strength of mine and Nick’s.” Onyx explained calmly.

I explained. "He said he doesn't know when but he believes it would happen soon or maybe later, he just wants me to be alerted," I continue, giving it to him to read. "That's would be impossible right, wolves don't communicate with vampires," I said but Damon didn't seem quite surprised. "Onyx does," he replied. "How, how did he find a way to settle them and how are you aware?" I questioned him. I found out during my little investigation that Onyx supplies Mecha to them along with omegas to be sex toys for them," he explained..

We had thought the fight was over; we were wrong. The news came on a stormy Tuesday night, the kind of rain that seemed to reflect the chaos outside our walls. Sebastian, who was tracking the Bloc’s remaining assets, patched into our secure comms. His face, usually calm now, was etched with alarm. "It's a full-scale financial evacuation," Sebastian reported, his voice tight. "The Onyx Bloc is reacting to the global freezing of their Trident-linked assets. They're liquidating their main Sovereign Wealth Fund. They're pulling billions out of global markets simultaneously."

I added but still there was no response. It was clear that no one was paying attention. I could feel the shift in the atmosphere, the weight of something unsaid pressing down on the room. Finally, after an agonizing pause, Elder Monty, one of the bold elders in the council cleared his throat and then leaned forward with his hands clasped in front of him. “Alpha Lorenzo…” He called, his voice was steady, but there was an underlying tone in it that I just couldn't fathom. Adjusting on his seat and with a voice lower than the first, he said, “There are troubling rumors circulating the pack.”

Odessa thought out loud, keeping the conversation going. "Onyx is the inspiration of our Omegas and other she-wolves. She's an Omega but commands our wolf warriors. On the field, she's more of an Alpha than an Omega. As much as she's a great sacrifice to us, omegas aren't meant to be on their own, they are supposed to be pampered and be taken care of by their mates. I peached to my omegas every day to let their mates do the job but my words are being taken for granted, Onyx has taken my place in their hearts," she explained, her tone holding no bitterness or malice but with tenderness and fervor.
