Yikes "You have wings too?" I ask Aylin and she nods before huge black wings appear behind her. Hers are membranous and resemble bat wings. Her wings seem to absorb what small light there is, and nothing shines off of them, like the blackness of them overpowers any kind of light. She flaps her wings once, before she jumps and lets them carry her upwards. She makes it look effortless.

Zephyr screamed from the prow. Saoirse looked up. diving from the cloud layer above them were three shapes. They looked like birds, but they were too big, too angular. Their wings didn't flap; they locked into place. "Iron-Wings!" Vane cursed, spinning the wheel. "Imperial Interceptors! They’re mechanized wyverns!" The creatures shrieked—a sound of tearing metal. They were biological horrors, wyverns that had been flayed and fitted with jet turbines on their wings and cannons in their mouths.

She looked away, tucked her hair behind her ear—didn’t notice the man watching her from across the room. Knox. Leaning against the far wall by the VIP hallway, arms folded. His gaze fixed on Raven like he was waiting for someone to screw up. Reyes leaned in, murmured: “We’re being watched. You should go. I won’t stay long either.” He took a sip of whiskey. Watched her walk back toward the bar. … Backstage. The music from the floor was muffled here—replaced by the hum of refrigeration units and the clink of shifting ice. Knox stood half in shadow, phone to his ear. Eyes still drifting to the main room.

“Are you my boyfriend or my bodyguard?” He held his ring in front of me, my eyes were magnetized by the intricate carvings on it. “Guardian angel, remember?” He straightened up on his seat, and in a louder than necessary voice, he said, “And unlike the last one you had, I have a sword, not a halo. And my wings are black, not white. It’s time they realized who they will have a problem with the next time they hurt even a single hair in your body!” My eyes widened at him. He took my hand in his again, and then he bent down to kiss my fingers once again. “I love you, angel.” He didn’t even whisper that. I was sure many people around us heard everything he said.

He registers the features numbly, one by one. The tiny, pointed wings of thin leather. The thin, pink tongue - forked - that darts occasionally from wide, snapping jaws, lined with twin rows of razor-sharp fangs. The pointed ridges, starting at the head and trailing down, down, around a long, curling tail, wrapped around Alcina’s forearms. The bright, glittering eyes, pupils pitch black and narrowed into slits. One covered in the dark, obsidian black scales; the other in blue-green, not unlike... fluorite.

It was almost as long as his body, though it felt quite light and flexible, ending parallel to the ground in a flat diamond shape. His wings had all but disappeared against his back. He opened them to get a better look and wasn't disappointed. They looked almost exactly like bat wings, although the 'arm' part was also covered in scales. The membrane of the wings looked just like skin, the top a steel gray color and underneath a much lighter gray-blue. The membrane stretched from his shoulders down to just below his hip.

Zachary glanced at me. Instead of getting mad, he scrutinized me apathetically. Wynnie, who was beside him, suddenly said, "Mr. Lowe, Yas has shown talent as a pilot since she was young. She got her license when she was 18. At 22, she has already outperformed many experienced pilots. She's made it this far through her own efforts." Wynnie's voice was as gentle as her smile in the photo from 20 years ago.

“Oh, gods…” Her breath was scorching hot. Every exhale washed over me like the air from a furnace. One careless movement from me and I would get burned, even one accidental bite and I would be dead. “Please don’t sneeze,” I whispered. The beast blinked one golden eye then, with another powerful roar her enormous wings spread. “Wings?” They unfurled like giant sails, black as midnight and edged with crimson veins. One powerful flap and the beast launched itself into the air. The crowd gasped.

While she carried her continuously threatening tone with him, she made no actual threat that was verbalised. Unfurling his wings and cowering into a ball within them, Ingram responded back nervously. Fumbling over some of his words as he spoke. "HE IS A WEREWOLF PRINCESS!! PLEASE- PRINCESS SEPHORA CALM YOURSELF!" His wings were an appropriate, navy which was almost black, colour for someone living in the Noble District. They were beginning to show that grey speckling in his feathers, a show of age among all harpy, but usually most noticeable on Ravens and darker feather Clan's first. Like that of Maven's but not quite as much yet.

His mocking gaze issued a non-verbal challenge and Onyx gnarled at Earth’s most burdening scum. While Nox went blazing towards the rogue king, the beta witches protected his flanks and the beta elves took care of protecting his back. The beta wolves took after the fleeing rogues, and the dragons started blocking the exits in divergent directions. Onyx, however, had a one-track mind－ to keep our mate safe. Leaping off Tyson’s dragonian head, Onyx tore apart the beta rogue trying to sneak behind Nox while my beta went rolling down the valley with the rogue king.
