One song played, then another, and suddenly, sleep returned. The only sound I could hear was his voice, again in that tone: “Come here.” I ran to the bar door, reached for the latch, but it was stuck. “Fuck,” I yelled. Why was this happening?

If I’m hot without any sheets on, the last thing I need is that heavy thing to make me even hotter. I lay down and barely pull the corner of the thin sheet over my stomach leaving my bare chest exposed. I keep my legs hanging out as I try to go to sleep. However, I toss and turn. No matter how much I want to go to sleep, I just can’t seem to be able. I don’t even look at the clock. I know that it is late. What is happening to me? My senses perk as my door slowly opens and then closes again. Almost immediately I’m surrounded by the alluring smell of strawberries and cream. I gasp. Kane is in my room.

Chapter 16 ONARI I stared at the criss cross marks my nails had made on his back. He was snoring. How could anyone sleep off right after sex? Men were super annoying! This was the time I became restless, ideas flowing easily though me. An idea was already forming in my mind. I tapped him lightly on his hand but he didn't budge. I frowned and tapped him harder. He groaned and made to roll over, but I wasn't having any of it.

The door opens. Then— BANG. The sound of it slamming shut echoes through the room like a gunshot. Silence returns. My head droops forward. My eyes begin to close. No. I force them open again. I can’t fall asleep. If I fall asleep… I won’t wake up again. My body trembles weakly as darkness creeps along the edges of my vision. My breathing becomes uneven, my chest tightening painfully. Stay awake and alive. My lips part slowly. At first nothing comes out, then a faint sound escapes me.

I don't want it to get stick to me and end up scratching myself because of itch. I tried to sleep early. I closed my eyes. But I couldn't sleep a wink! "Damn it!" I cursed under my breath when I accidentally put my weight on my injured shoulder after turning back and forth on my bed. I tried counting sheeps since i heard it was effective but no! After counting a couple of few hundreds I'm still wide awake! I was contemplating on what to do when I felt a cold breeze which made me shiver. I realized the window was open.

Broken Into I A cool breeze drifted through Nancy’s open window, teasing the thin curtains. She lay sprawled across the silk sheets, naked, a limb askew, lost in the deep currents of sleep. The moon, a sliver of silver, cast long, distorted shadows across her bedroom floor. A faint clink, barely audible above the chirping crickets, snagged the edge of her subconscious. Her breath hitched, a shallow intake that did little to stir her from her sleep.
