I’m lying on my bed with my eyes open. I’ve been doing this for hours. Every time I think I’m close to sleep, my body jerks awake like it doesn’t trust rest anymore. I put on baby pink silk pajamas with spaghetti straps and shorts on. I go to the kitchen where the bag of my medicines was. I fill a glass full of water and open the bottle. No more than two. I recite in my mind again and again. If I don't eat three I will have nightmares but I need something to knock me out. I want to have a dreamless sleep. But I can't do this to myself. YOU NEED SLEEP VICTORIA! The voice in my head says. But I can't take two. THEN GOOD LUCK RELIVING THOSE MEMORIES!

The kind of melody that comes from knowing I have them alive in my arms. I let out a long sigh and attempted to redirect the rising rage towards the general once again. Fuck! I realized I wouldn't be able to sleep, so I got up and walked to the adjacent room. I tapped on the button for an invisible drawer to pop out. I quickly took some and sprayed some sleep aid to knock me out because the big day starts tomorrow.

We had our clothes and some mementos from the few times we had splurged to go skiing. When we were finished for the night we decided to get some rest, because it would be a busy morning. When I'm filled with excitement, having some sleep becomes quite challenging. It comes as no surprise that I had a restless night and found myself alert and wide awake even before the break of dawn.
