He assured as he stared at one of the questionnaires, I wonder what his response will be. "What do you think of the questions?" I asked curiously. "Well I think it's a good question, this is something that a few pack members have been talking about and it's good you are looking into it." He said as I picked up a pen from my desk. "Fill one out." I said as I gave him a pen. I know that watching him do it might put him under some type of pressure but I just want to know what his opinion is since I am working with him directly, I need to know what he thinks.

My breath catches. Damn it. I hate how easily he says things like that. Like he’s stating facts, not opinions. Like he’s already decided what’s true and there’s no point arguing it.

I asked, fighting the urge to tell him that I'd still hug him even if he crushed the whole world because I knew, I just knew that he wouldn't do it for no selfish reason. "Their opinions didn't matter because aside from the horrified, judgmental look in their eyes, they never get the chance to give their fucked up irrational opinions." he responded, he's tone hardening.

I make tea — the good kind, not the kitchen-cupboard kind, because this is not a crisis, this is a reckoning, and reckonings deserve proper tea. I bring it to the table. He wraps his hands around the cup. "She's not easy," he says. "No," I agree. "She has opinions about everything. Not performance opinions. Actual ones. The kind that are attached to reasons you have to engage with because they're sound." "That sounds exhausting." "It is," he says. "It's also—" He stops. "It's also?" I say. "Don't push."
