"I'll lose my mind." Carlos reached for my hand and squeezed it gently. I was grateful for his warm fingers wrapped around mine. I was still shaken from the vision at the priestess's house, and his touch helped ground me in the real world. The orphanage sat on the outskirts of town, a large gray building with small windows and a heavy wooden door. It looked stern and unwelcoming, like the kind of place where children went to be forgotten. My stomach twisted as we approached. Somewhere in that building, my sister and I had lived as babies.
