Mate Rebound
I followed him, my heart thumping my paws, but he was gone, vanished into the night which shrouded him, leaving folded at the top a note, pinned to a crate, the edges of which were aglow with runes.
I jumped backward, my chest heaving, blood running down my flank, and grabbed the note, hands trembling as I unfolded the note. With my heart pounding, I scrambled to fit the symbols together, the words searing into my brain: “Ritual must use twin vessels.” My breath caught, my voice muttered in disbelief. “Elara has a twin?”
