“Tessa, help me arrange a false death.” The moment the call connected, I got straight to the point. Tessa fell silent. “What happened?” I lowered my eyes to the photos still glowing on my screen. In them, Cassian was half-naked, with bite marks across his neck. The one taking the photo had stood close enough to make sure I would see everything. “I don’t want this anymore,” I said. “In five days, I’m leaving with the pup.”

“Everyone knows that entering means your death.” I let out an angry snort and tossed my brother’s body, followed by his head at their feet. “AHHHH!!” one screamed. So much for being strong and brave soldiers. I bellowed my anger because they don’t know I speak, and they never will. All I could think right now was how I wouldn’t get to see my mother or the others again. This was the day I would die. Minos wouldn’t let me live now.
