The vampire grew angrier, “let me have the flag.” Cillian shook his head, “why do you want it, you don’t have a team anymore you’re already out or do you need me to make it bloody clearer?” His hand reached for his sword. He scoffed, “because of the stupid show you displayed for us you think I will believe that you’re some kind of wonderful fighter?” Cillian nodded, “yes, you should think so.” The vampire shook his head, “the flag is mine.”

“So please excuse me if I refuse to believe your lies. My father fought with every ounce of his soul. And still, they crushed us.” The room blurred. “They buried him without honor. They burned our flags. They forced our people to kneel to a thief.” I dragged in a breath. “But I carry him with me. Every scar. Every broken prayer. Every vow stitched into my skin. They may rule the land he died for. Alec will never mark me.” A breathless silence filled the room. My chest heaved, then cracked open. Tears spilled over before I could stop them. I hated crying. I hated it more than anything.

He said, as he approached me slowly. I stare at him, with fear ridden in my eyes. “Tonight, on the crimson moon, you have been marked by death.
