Being an Alpha is such work, I really needed to be with her always, buy my responsibilities are important too. I sit on the chair and open the scrapbook slowly. I dusted it off first though because it's so dusty. Wow, what beautiful drawings? I am met by a beautiful drawing on the first page. There is a small scribbling like a signature at the bottom of the page. And it looks like Sylvia's name. The first drawing is of a bridge, there is water under the bridge and a charming Scenery at the end of the bridge. There is also quite rising sunshine. The start of the bridge is rough and rocky. The drawing has so many little details in it.

"The people in the offices will want these maps. If you sell them to the city you can buy a house in the part of town where they grow olives. You will have a roof over your head. The child will not have to breathe in the air from the sea." Elara looked down at the leather case. It had thirty-two papers with gray drawings that showed how people survived on the frontier. She could see all the lines and marks in her mind without opening the case. She saw the paths that water took the metal caps and the small marks that showed where people lived in the dark.

God. Everything was fine. Fair. Until the last page. Reasonable honestly. Then she froze. God. Because there was a drawing. Fair. A brand new drawing. Reasonable. Not hers. God. Definitely not hers. Fair. Just scribbles. Reasonable honestly. Lots of scribbles. God. Then one tiny stick figure. Fair. Then another tiny stick figure. Reasonable. Then a tiny circle. God. Everyone stared. Fair. Then Peanut pointed proudly.

But they all grabbed a marker pen and started drawing anywhere they could reach. They all seemed to know what they were drawing. When they finished drawing their individual pictures, they went to a larger blank wall. Where Max drew a big circle, Eden then drew a slightly smaller circle inside of it. Before Jaxon drew some lines connecting the circles. It made it look a little like a clock. But Eden added some wavy lines at the bottom of it. When they finished, they went to a sofa, curled up with Evie and cried. I looked at their pictures. Max had drawn a man’s shaver but with small lightening bolts coming off it, Jaxon had drawn a bucket and Eden had drawn a knife.

When he held up the notepad, it read: “Can we go to the beach?” Killian and I leaned in closer, our eyes fixed on the notepad as Ryker held it up. Beneath his simple request of *Can we go to the beach?*, he had sketched something in his careful, childlike strokes. The drawing showed three figures: one adult male, one adult female, and a small child between them, holding their hands. The sun shone brightly in the background, and the waves were drawn in soft, blue lines. For a moment, we both stared at the image, trying to decipher its meaning. Killian’s brow furrowed as he glanced from the notepad back to Ryker.

It was folded into a small square. "I drew a picture," he said. "Did you?" Aurora took it. She unfolded it carefully. It was a drawing of the penthouse. A tall black rectangle. At the top, in the windows, were four stick figures. A tall one (Papa). A medium one (Mommy, with a circle tummy). A small one (Ethan). And another tall one with a hard hat (Uncle Marcus). But around the building, Ethan had used his black crayon. He had pressed hard.

My mind reeled. Was this the continuation of the previous picture? It looked like it. I looked back and forth documenting every single etch in the sand and they looked alike. What could this mean? was it possible for me to walk? To move beside Alex on land, without needing to be carried or hidden away? The thought sent a thrill through my body, making my skin vibrate with excitement. I looked around, searching for more answers. My fingers traced along the sand for more answers, The drawings depicted everyday life, hunting, decorating, even a small story of what seems like a mermaid fighting an orca.

“You’re doing good. You just need to make him thicker.” He edged over to her side and picked up a black crayon. After looking at her for permission, he drew some new lines and colored them in. “Orcas are massive. Like underwater tanks.” “That does look better,” she signed. She pushed a bucketful of markers over to his side of the poster. “Here, why don’t you do the orcas, and I’ll do the bubbles and seaweed. Where did I put the glitter?” Ethan laughed. “I guess bubbles are shiny.”

Everything I've learned in the last hour has given me a lot to think about, and I always do my best processing through my doodles. I start with the easy stuff. With Omar, towering the length of the page, and then Ford, whose head seems to get bigger with every sketch. I draw Karen pursing her lips and tapping her fingers against her earpiece. I even doodle a few of the cameras and cameramen to complete the scene.
