I was practically sobbing from the pain by the time they kicked in. Time slows down while his words still echo through my head. Searing pain jolts through me, my senses blurring while it feels like claws are burying into my heart, crushing it between its fist. “Fuck,” I breathe out as my legs give out beneath me. Strong arms keep me from hitting the ground, and I look up, blinking at the fog the pain is creating around me. “Breathe,” Hunter incites me, his face distorted into a grimace. “It is painful, but it will get better.” He is so close, but sounds like he is miles away, the words he is shouting at me reaching me in a muffled whisper.
