Roan stayed silent, just observing as the other man blew softly on his drink before sipping steadily.
Kingsley scanned the café, then peered out the glass at passersby. He avoided his friend’s gaze—a tell that he had something to spill but no clue how. Roan sighed, arching a brow as he broke the quiet.
“Spit it out before your coffee cools,” Roan said.
“I quit,” Kingsley replied.
“For Lorenzo?” Roan asked.
“Not for him. Because of him,” Kingsley clarified.
“What’s that mean?”
“It was too much,” Kingsley mumbled. “Can’t work with him now.”
