I asked. Without any warning, he slipped something into my ring finger—something small and cold, like a piece of metal. I retreated my hand away and looked at what he had placed on my finger. "A ring?" I said, confused. Axel chuckled at my reaction. He pinched my cheeks for a second. "You're so cute, baby. Yes, it's a ring." I tilted my head to the side as I observed the ring on my finger. It was thin, delicate, and it had a small piece of diamond in the middle. In other words, it was simply beautiful.

Easily the best booth in the house. Chris and Crystal sit hand in hand on the soft velvet seating. I scoot in beside Crystal and Stella follows, obviously wanting what I want. "Show me your ring" I ask for both Stella and I. Stella nods in acquiescence. Crystal grins and holds out her hand. The ring is exquisite, a single solitaire in a fine, elaborate claw with diamonds on either side. "It's beautiful" I tell her. "It's stunning" Stella says. Crystal nods in delight "It's not as beautiful as yours though"

Alisha said, sounding very proud of herself. Alyssa give him his hunters licence. Then fished out two rings from the pouch she was holding. The first ring which she called the storage ring was a simple Silver ring crested with serpentine stone. The second ring was a golden signet ring. The signet was a figure of a man shackled with chains.

The next photo is of the same woman, a portrait of her standing alone in her wedding dress, holding a cascade of white lilies. Unlike before, she’s not smiling here. Here her expression is veiled, cautious. I study the picture, wondering what it is exactly that I’m looking for anyway, when I spot it. There’s a glinting silver ring wrapped around her finger, just below the golden wedding band. A ring in the shape of a scaled serpent biting its own tail.

The rings however, are completely different, on the second page there are matching his and hers wedding rings and immediately we both point at a silver pair with cut out patterns and four blue diamonds on each ring. We look at each other and it's as though we know without saying anything that those are the rings we both want. Billy looks around and then tears the picture out of the magazine, stuffing it in his pocket and squeezing my hand as I push the magazine's back into the seat pocket. ~*~

Bent low, I touched the ground with one knee, stuck in the grains beneath me. A sharp inhale froze in her throat. Wide eyes sparkled, already damp at the edges. Out came the ring from my coat, just a plain circle of platinum with one clean stone set in place. Not loud. Never showy. Quiet elegance, much like how she carried herself. Weeks passed since picking it, way before her choice to remain, yet I kept it close, a quiet promise waiting.

He pointed down to it and the lady just smiled. “If you love that so much we got a ring that matches.” She smiled as she pulled out a ring which matched. The clerk passed it over allowing Rosalie to place it on her finger. It didn’t fit anything but the ring finger a little snuggly but that was all the women needed. “Its beautiful but doesn’t fit.” Rosalie frowned. “Thank you for trying but all I need is this.” “It is beautiful on you.” The clerk smiled happily as she rang up the bill for the necklace and ring. She slipped instructions and the receipt to him so Rosalie wouldn’t see. Asrar took a quick picture so he could show Ryan when they had a moment.

The silk and mesh slide over my skin, and the heels add inches to my height that make me feel like I could step on anyone who gets in my way. By the time I’m done, I’m staring at a girl in the mirror I don't even recognize. I reach back into the box and find one last thing. It’s a tiny, glinting sliver of metal. "What even is this, Pips?" I ask, holding it up. "It’s too tiny to be a hair pin." Pippa rolls her eyes, walking over to me. "It’s a designer clip, you dork. Give it here."

She touched her lips lightly, remembering how he’d kissed her. Remembering the way he had looked at her. And suddenly, everything felt very… complicated. Two hours later, the first draft was finally done. Emily sat back in her chair, exhaling slowly as she looked at the sketch on her screen. She tapped her fingers lightly against the edge of the tablet, then snapped a screenshot. The women’s ring featured twenty-five round brilliant-cut diamonds set along a platinum band. The band itself curved into a graceful Y-shape, ending in a delicate crescent moon.

"That'd be great, thank you, Ms. Goldie." Opal nodded. "As for baking, this is a vintage Cartier Art Deco ring. Back in its day it was a treasure. It's even more so now. You wear gloves if you keep this ring on your finger while you're working. You hearing me, missy?" Willow nodded. "Yes, Ms. Goldie, I promise." Ms. Goldie smiled. "Good girl." She turned back to me. "Now leave. I'll call you when it's done."
