I say, my heart racing with excitement and fear. Lavinia opens the book to the page she's been studying, her finger tracing the strange symbols etched into the paper. She takes a deep breath and begins to recite the words of the spell, her voice low and musical as she speaks in a language I don't recognize. I watch in awe as the words seem to glow, the symbols pulsing with a strange energy. Lavinia's voice grows louder, more fervent, and I feel a shiver run down my spine.

Edward handled most of them while I restocked shelves and learned the layout. Around two, a woman came in looking for a specific dark romance. "Do you have anything like Butcher & Blackbird?" she asked. "I just finished it and I need something similar." Edward looked at me. "Maliya?" I stepped forward. "Have you read Haunting Adeline? Or the Broken Bride series? They've got similar dark romance vibes with morally gray love interests." Her face lit up. "I haven't read either of those. Where are they?" I led her to the romance section, pulled both books, gave her quick summaries.

Chapter 1 Lyra's POV I wrapped my legs tighter around his waist, pulling him closer against me. My body was on fire, every nerve ending screaming for more contact. His deep groan vibrated through his chest and into mine, making everything inside me clench with desperate need. My fingers dug into his shirt as he continued kissing and sucking at my neck. He grabbed my waist, half-pulling, half-lifting me toward the bedroom. I felt more like a doll being moved than a person being carried. I knew this was wrong. I knew I shouldn't be here in his arms, and shouldn't be enjoying every second of this forbidden moment.

His eyes moved over me with the inventory quality and registered nothing unusual. I had been kissed in the rain by another man four days ago. He saw nothing. We sat at dinner and he talked about London and the meetings and the outcomes and I nodded at the correct intervals and asked the questions that demonstrated appropriate engagement and inside the performance, underneath it, in the place he had never once found access to, I was somewhere else entirely. I was in a narrow bookstore aisle with aged paper around me and a voice reading Keats at low volume. I was under an awning with rain coming down and warm hands at my face and a mouth that had known exactly what it was doing.

Great. That opens a floodgate of articles about hormones, pheromones, and 'soul-deep connections.' Nothing remotely scientific. It's all romance novel tropes and spiritual mumbo jumbo. I groan quietly pressing my palms over my eyes. What do I think I'm going to find? A diagnosis for 'help, I dry-humped my boss and now my brain's short-circuiting?' I can't stop. The next search is even more absurd. I am being influenced by paranormal fanfic websites: 'Supernatural myths about wolves.'

I smiled. “I write all kinds of books under the romance genre. I write, billionaire, office, paranormal, and all other kinds of romance.” I revealed. I have touched all kinds of romance. “No wonder you weren’t so shocked about us being werewolves.” “Are you for real? I literally collapsed when I saw you shift. It was a whole new kind of experience. That I write paranormal doesn’t mean I believed paranormal existed.” I told him. I was quick to get over the shock but that doesn’t mean I wasn’t shocked by their real identity. It still feels like I dreamt that part.

"You loved reading too?" "Still do." He moved beside me, shoulders relaxed for the first time since we'd entered the house. "Books were my escape. When things got tough here, I could just disappear into another world for a while." I pulled out a book at random and laughed. "No way - 'Howl at Midnight'? I loved this series!" "You read paranormal novels?" His eyes lit up with genuine surprise and excitement. "Are you kidding?" I gestured at his shelves. "These are all my favorites! 'Moon's Curse', 'The Pack', 'Blood of the Wolf'..." I trailed off, realizing something. "Wow, we really do have the same taste. All paranormal."

James sat in his grandmother's cozy living room, listening intently as she read him the stories of Eli, the vampire who had faced insurmountable odds and emerged victorious through sheer determination and the power of love. James had always loved hearing these stories, but today they held a special meaning for him.

"Uhm...is it wrong for me to say I'm fascinated with this world and the people living in it so I...I wish to stay?" Oh dear...
