Sweet Unhappy Heart

Sweet Unhappy Heart

"Set it up." Carver made a note on her pad. "Good. I'll confirm with Holloway and send you the details. You'll need to report to your parole officer first thing after release. His name is Gerald Chen. He's tough but fair. Show up on time, pass your drug tests, keep your nose clean, and you'll be fine." "And if I'm not fine?" "Then you come right back here to finish the rest of your sentence. Plus whatever additional time they tack on for violating parole." Carver closed her briefcase with a decisive snap. "Don't screw this up, Mr. Finn. Second chances are rare. Third chances don't exist."

Deeply in the game

Deeply in the game

"Give me Agent Phil. Please let him know that Agent Sandro is calling." Anna was stunned to hear that, and she couldn't believe he still trusted anyone, much less Phil after the way he'd responded to Phil's involvement in the situation. She assumed that he was talking to Phil when he said "Sandro here" to the receiver. The Menchaca restaurant can be found in Padre, next to pier 39. He was trying to kill us all when he shot and killed a police officer. He stayed quiet for one minute as they drove up behind a queue of traffic that was stopped completely. "The storm has kept the local cops very busy," the author writes.

Cellblock Heat

Cellblock Heat

“Names.” I leaned back, arms crossing. “Aight. You want the street names or you want the government?” He didn’t even roll his eyes, pen poised. “Street names first,” I muttered. “Aight… the first dude is Snakebite. He’s in Waller Penitentiary in Mexico.” Quincy wrote it down neatly, the kind of handwriting that belonged to people who still believed notebooks were sacred objects. “The second one’s Jag,” I continued. “He got transferred to Eastwood Federal in London.”

Divorce to Destiny: Reclaiming My CEO Husband

Divorce to Destiny: Reclaiming My CEO Husband

(Winona) I sit in the living room of my townhouse, my ankle bracelet itching against my skin. The quiet space echoes everything I do, adding to the horrible feeling of Abby not being here with me. But I’m home. That’s a start. Gordon Brown, my lawyer, sits across from me, a stack of papers in front of him. His legal team is scattered around the room, their faces serious and focused. My parole officer is also present. Sheila Hobbs.

The office fell silent as everyone held their breath, waiting for a result. "Mr. Holt, we've got it. The address is in Parilis District." Thaddeus heard the name "Parilis District" again, the same as what Corvus gave him last time. Parilis District was vast, making it difficult to find someone. "Do you have more details?" Thaddeus asked. "Yes, I'll send them to your phone right away," the staff member said.

Betrayed Before the Vows

He thought the deal in Tegel was the end of Camelia’s reign. Tegel Federal Penitentiary – Transit Wing William sat in a small, windowless room, his bags packed. Two federal agents stood by the door, waiting for the final clearance of his pardon. He had a tablet in front of him, granted for his "final legal discharge." On the screen, he watched the live feed from Paris.

E.C. EDWARDS - The Mighty Antimagic Spell

E.C. EDWARDS - The Mighty Antimagic Spell

“We can’t stop, Jones W. Carpenter. We can't drink coffee and smoke a pipe, because I didn't take any with me. Maybe next time, I'll take both. Per contra, now let's move more airily. We almost got there.” Gangsley Taylor's sober, firm voice somewhat revived Jones, so the officer regained his strength to go on with the same efficiency, along with the other two fellows in misery. The officers looked for the house at number 3, on one of the most insignificant and unknown streets, Moon Street, a street down which neither of them had ever walked before. Someone else would probably look for it in the morning, waiting for daylight to come and maybe with a little luck the bothering rain to stop.

A Pet for the Mafia Dons

A Pet for the Mafia Dons

Bianca led her sobbing sister to the couch and Sylvie appeared, enfolding the young girl in her arms saying, “Ah, babe…” Between them, they were able to calm the near-hysterical Beth. But Bianca gazed out of the window, her eyes wide in apprehension. Where was poor Anna? Would O’Grady be able to bring her back safely? The headquarters of the Delano mob was in a building that looked like a financial establishment. They were met at the doors by a burly man who escorted them to the upper floors. Although it was past eleven at night, the place still buzzed with activity, a low-key kind of energy running through the entire place. Walking along the heavily carpeted corridors, the two men were led

The Demon's Daughter

Nobody ever saw it. He sighed. This was the part of his job he hated, delivering packages in unknown places, all for a meager 50 dollars a week paycheck. This was so not in his job description. "Alright" He looked down at the papers in his hands "St Patrick's Cathedral, 1205, 8 Mile and Houston." He frowned. Wasn't this supposed to be a crime scene? The yellow gauze police tape said it all. Whatever. He wasn't one to wonder about other people's living arrangements. He himself was a squatter in an apartment trailer and didn't mind it one bit.

The Pack's Secret Keeper

The Pack's Secret Keeper

June and Aislen hurried back down the hallway to the door, and then down and around to where Susan stood by the now open meeting room door. “Ah, good,” Susan said as they reached her. “They’re back.” “That was quick,” June whispered frantically. “Wasn’t it?” “Yes,” Susan nodded, but kept her expression neutral. Guy was being led in as they entered and took their seats. “We’ll keep this short,” the woman at the end of the row smiled. “Congratulations, Mr Barnham. Your parole is granted.”

Roza
Like the book but always find it a pity that stories on these apps end with rape & abuse victims forgiving and forgetting (basically: with a simple sorry and a few tears) what abusers did to them. She has lifelong trauma and probably Stockholm Syndrome but no actual justice for this poor girl.

Ok so this book is… SO GOOD! The writing is on point with very little errors. The storyline keeps you glued to the pages. The past to present is different, sometimes I just want a few chapters where it’s not going back and forth. I love the characters growth of Aislen, and now the boys. Must read!
