I walked with quick steps towards the kitchen, clutching the paper in my hands, this magic paper that could hopefully start to turn things around for Sara and me. "Sara?" I called out as I came into the kitchen. She was loading food from take-out dishes onto plates. She blushed a little as if embarrassed I caught her. I didn’t care about that. I mock-glared at him, flipping him off as he mock-gasped, clutching his chest in mock horror. "Shit," I muttered, suddenly remembering the pasta as I shot out of the stool to switch off the cooker. The pasta was dry and stuck together, and I mixed it frantically, hoping to salvage dinner. "I gotta go," I muttered, feeling a pang of disappointment as Spencer shuffled around on the other end of the line. "Yeah, same actually, bye sis," he said, his voice distant, and then the line clicked dead. I let out a sigh of relief as I served the pasta onto a plate and grabbed a cola from the freezer.

It's legit a symphony of flavors dancing on my taste buds." I raised an eyebrow, slightly amused. "A symphony, huh? Well, I guess that makes me the conductor of this evening." He said and lifted his pasta filled fork, bringing it in my direction, just close to my mouth. “You should try out this pasta too, ahhh…” He parted his lips, signalling me to open my mouth to take the pasta. The waiter's face instantly turned pale. "Sir, I don't understand what you're talking about. There must be some misunderstanding." "There's no misunderstanding. I heard what you said." I repeated the word for 'pauper' in the foreign language he'd used. "I didn't realize a waiter could have such an attitude. Is this how you treat your customers? We go back to the room and sit on the bed with the plates between us. I take one bite. My eyes widen. “Lyra.” She watches me carefully. “Good?” “This is not good.
