Can I draw too?” “Of course,” Olivia said, handing her some paper and crayons. “Write or draw whatever you think will make him smile.” Eunice sat down at the kitchen table, her tongue poking out in concentration as she began to draw. Olivia watched her for a moment before returning to the gravy, carefully seasoning it with salt and pepper. She glanced at Eunice’s work and saw a colourful sketch of a tall man with dark hair standing next to a small girl holding hands. In the background, a smiling woman stood near what appeared to be a giant bowl of mashed potatoes.

Lilian cringed there was no way that Damian was going to. "Sure." Lilian was speechless. Did he really agree to help? Damian walked over and Lilian went to sit next to Anna and they watched the men do the pastry. "Now, don't make it too flat. Just nice and even all around." Damian carefully rolled the pastry and Antonio guided him gently. Lilian was a bit surprised. After a while, Antonio inspected it. "This is perfect. Couldn’t have done it any better myself." He carefully put it in the pan and filled it with the strawberry fruits. He rolled another one and carefully used it to cover the top of the pie.

I walk over to Landry, smiling up at him while I hold the papers firmly in my hand. “Whatcha got there?” He asks, glancing over at me as he puts of pot of water on to boil. “Well, I guess we were both thinking of each other today because I did something for you too,” I say with nervous excitement. “What did you do?” Landry asks eagerly, so, instead of building the moment I hand him the papers. Landry takes them and slowly begins reading, his eyes growing wider and wider as a million emotions swirl inside him. “This… this is an application to pastry school…”

There were still more surprises to come. When Tynan reached for the strawberries and strawberry jam, Griffin was automatically fascinated. The stack of strange pancakes was stacked and milk ice cream was layered between each pancake slice. At the very top of the stack, Tynan used whipped cream and strawberries to complete the picture while he used strawberry jam to draw creative patterns on the dessert plate that served as a dip as well. Griffin had to admit, this might be a little different from Apple Soup's regular style but this finesse might be the exact thing they were lacking.
