Luna by Contract, Mother in Secret

Luna by Contract, Mother in Secret

She couldn’t shake the feeling they were being watched. Midday brought them to a swollen river, its banks churned to mud by the night’s deluge. A rickety bridge swayed precariously over the rushing water, its ropes frayed and wooden slats cracked. “We have to cross,” Aria said, eyeing it warily. “There’s no other way through.” Caden tested the first plank, his weight making it groan. “It’ll hold,” he said, though doubt flickered in his eyes. “You go first with Rollan. I’ll follow.”

“They have chosen to expand.” James frowned. “What does that mean?” “It means love was never your weakness.” “It is the bridge’s greatest strength.” The tree behind her shimmered. Seven branches slowly illuminated. Only three glowed brightly. Four remained dark. “They are waking.” The woman raised one hand. “But beware.” “Every bridge invites travelers.” “Not all who cross it come in peace.” Everything dissolved. ⸻ Charlotte gasped. They were back. Still standing in the conference room. Still holding hands.

The Pack's Triquetra

The Pack's Triquetra

He turned away from the main street, however. “Where are we going, daddy?” She wondered, surprised by the sudden direction change. “To confirm a suspicion of mine,” Talen replied. “The NES are coming in from Rideten.” “I guess, because the other entries into the town cross the river.” “There are only three roads that cross the mountain and forest. The Old Main Road which was the original road in and out of the region, Fraser’s Pass, and the underpass which I paid a hefty amount of money to build fifty years ago,” he added ruefully.

Fantastic follow up to the first book. I keep going back to the first one to reread the corresponding chapters. It’s so good to see all the perspectives. I cannot wait to see what happens next. Such a clever way to present a story. I’m hooked. I’ll read anything this author puts out at this point.

He asked softly, helping her to stand back but she pulled her arm back roughly, fuming at him. “I am fine. I don’t need your help.” She hissed, turning her head away, not wanting him help. He sighed as they both crossed the bridge too. Then Daphne and Randall crossed, they were slowly crossing. Half of them were on the other side, waiting for each other. “You go.” Kriss whispered, looking down, motioning to Juniper and Ahlum to go first. She nodded but the moment they stepped on the bridge, the ground began to shake at a high magnitude.

Fated Series: Bewitched

Fated Series: Bewitched

"Move!" "I got this." Ceara closed her eyes and held up her palms. "Part the path and lead the way. Allow us passage on this day. Get us quickly where we need to be. As I will, so mote it be." Like the Red Sea, pedestrians slowly moved off the street and onto the curb, allowing a narrow path for the jeep to get through. Tristan painstakingly eased forward, his grip on the wheel turning his knuckles white. Every inch gained knocked Brady's pulse closer and closer to stroke level, and he imagined his head might explode. Would be better than this limbo. He was all but crawling out of his skin.

Alpha‘s Unhunted Mate

Alpha‘s Unhunted Mate

“I’ll let the patrol know. Come in through the east gate and follow that road to the center of town. Turn right at the third stop sign and follow that out to the training grounds.” When Wyatt had given the directions, he was grateful that the town was laid out in a grid pattern. He had been to several pack lands where the streets curved and twisted, and you would have to take a half dozen turns to get where you wanted. There were four main roads in Crystal Pass, and from any one of them, you could get anywhere in town. He was thinking about this as he was discreetly trying to watch for Gunny. Currently, he stood across from Celeste talking with his parents and sister about the Hunt and Luna

The Alpha's Last Bond Breaker

The Alpha's Last Bond Breaker

With the bonds between people made manifest. And everywhere, people. Walking across the bridges. Strengthening them with each step. Building new connections. Creating new pathways. "How does it work?" I asked a woman passing by. She smiled. "The bridges are bonds. Literal bonds between people. When two people connect—when they form a relationship, a friendship, a partnership—a bridge forms between their cities. The stronger the bond, the stronger the bridge." "And if the bond breaks?" "The bridge fades. But it doesn't disappear completely. Just becomes translucent. A reminder of what was. Some people rebuild them. Some let them fade. Some use them as foundations for new bonds."

Ice Cold - Part One: The Dark Zone

Ice Cold - Part One: The Dark Zone

“What we know, from what the boy told us, is that the only way to reach the fortress is to cross a narrow bridge connecting the mountains. That’ll be easy enough to identify.” “But surely you can’t think it would be easy, or even possible at all?” Caine interrupted. “They’ll be defending the bridge heavily with archers, that much is entirely predictable. Whether you have the numbers or not, you’ll lose all your men’s will to fight if too many of them get themselves needlessly killed trying to take the bridge.” “And that’s why crossing the bridge will only be half the objective. Because I agree, it won’t be easy. That’s why we’ll need a secondary route inside.”

The One Way Ticket

The One Way Ticket

Inspector Eallric's 404 picked up pace as it raced down a sloped, remote alleyway which went on below a bridge that connected Brickfield Row and Dove Route together. The alley, Providence Passage, had congested waste bins - places of tourism for flies and maggots, nearly everywhere one's neck turned.

Alpha’s regret : The return of his rejected mate

Alpha’s regret : The return of his rejected mate

" He accelerated. The engine roared, eating up the desolate miles. I touched the pocket of my cargo pants. The notebook was still there. The Valravn, I thought. They know the terrain. They are probably watching us right now. I scanned the tree line. Nothing but gray bark and snow. But I knew better. Predators didn't let themselves be seen until it was too late. THE CROSSING Dead Man's Drop was a geological scar a massive ravine that separated the pack territories from the unregulated North. A single bridge spanned the gap. It was an old steel truss structure, rusted and groaning in the wind. Damian stopped the truck at the entrance to the bridge. "Checkpoint," he said, pointing ahead. There
