“A joke,” Cayla repeated, testing the word on her lips.
“Yes,” he confirmed. “It’s the only answer that fits all four parts of the riddle.”
Without further hesitation, Cayla stepped forward, her fingers trembling as she touched the stone plaque. A soft rumble filled the air, and the stone archway opened wide, revealing the dark path that led them deeper into the cave.
The voice that had spoken to them earlier echoed once more, but this time, it carried a note of approval: “You have answered wisely, and you may pass.”
