My ears rang from the loud noise, and I hissed in pain. What had her losing her mind now? On the other end, Christina screamed in disbelief, "What did you say? Say that again!" I had completely run out of patience. I promptly hung up and hummed to myself as I headed home. Unexpectedly, Adrian called me that night from a number I didn't recognize. The girl deserves to know the truth," Zara jumps in again as a sinister grin spreads across her lips. "Before you showed up, Kane was my man. Every year during the heat, we get extra horny, and judging by your looks- some of us have to take what we get." She chuckles. Before she can insult me more, I roll my eyes. “I’m not one to indulge in gossip, but I overheard some students talking about you. They said something about your boyfriend not being around you as much these days.” Heat rushed to my face. “Oh my God. They weren’t talking about a boyfriend.” I groaned, covering my face with my hands. “That’s Kaiden. He’s my best friend. He doesn’t know the meaning of personal space, so people just assume… ugh.” He chuckled softly. “I see. I didn’t mean to embarrass you. I was just curious. They used the word boyfriend. I am not one to judge your choices though. I just wanted to know since we would be working closely together.”
