His voice is loud enough that I see movement in the trailers around us, curtains shifting, doors cracking open just slightly, people watching but too afraid to step in.
I push myself to my feet, the alcohol making the ground sway beneath me, but I steady quickly. “Paul, just leave.”
Paul hesitates, glancing at me, then at Rook, and whatever he sees in Rook’s face is enough to make his decision for him. He nods, his expression unreadable as he steps away, walking off into the night without another word.
