“Then we’ll remember for it.” He exhaled, tension finally leaving his frame. “That sounds like a vow.” “It’s not,” she said gently. “It’s a promise.” A breeze stirred between them, carrying the faint scent of the sea. Somewhere far off, gulls cried — impossibly distant yet clear. Kaelen’s gaze softened. “You ever think we’ll have peace?” Serenya’s eyes lifted toward the sky. The clouds were parting, the sun climbing higher. “I think peace isn’t something you find,” she said. “It’s something you make, moment by moment.”

Three months of peace. Real peace. Not threatened peace. Not temporary peace. Just peace. Normal. Boring. Beautiful peace. Aria woke naturally. No alarms. No emergencies. Just sunlight through windows. Thorne sleeping beside her. Bond humming contentedly. Everything calm. Peaceful. Right. She lay there. Appreciating it. The quiet. The lack of urgency. The normalcy. Three months of this. Three months of living instead of just surviving. Three months of happiness. Real happ

Just breathing. I breathe with it. In. Out. The moon does not bleed tonight. The Goddess is silent tonight. I know this is temporary. I am five years old and I am already old enough to understand that things that seem settled have a way of becoming unsettled, that peace is not a state you arrive at and remain in but a thing you make and protect and remake, every day, with the people who matter enough to make it with. But even still she hoped Ryan would come to love her, so she endured the endless abuse from his mother, and the pressure to beat an heir for the esteemed Steward family. Amanda had sacrificed everything to be the perfect wife, from her job as a doctor to her freedom, wanting nothing more than to be acknowledged by the man she loved. West POV There has never been a moment in my life that I have felt such a profound sense of peace and happiness as I do now, watching Aria sleep. She is a gentle soul, filled with forgiveness and an innate ability to make others feel at ease. In her presence, I find a quiet strength that allows me to be myself, unburdened by the weight of my own thoughts. She has a way of turning even the most difficult moments into something serene and comforting.

Baalee makes a beeline for them and as we approach I hear a bit of their conversation. "The Peulos come from a watery planet and like to swim. They are blue or green in color. Kea's are all around you. We are the most colorful. We view everyone as family and hate conflict. Fighting in this war is hard for our people. That is why Keas host the Harvest. We are the most trusted," the green Kea is saying and I grow eager to join the conversation. It sounds like they are talking about the men we will be expected to be with.
