Mindy grabbed her by the hair and dragged her toward the bedroom, ignoring her screams. "Percy!" she barked. "Come deal with her!" Percy froze, his face twisting. His arm was injured but not badly. Cyrus had aimed to cripple, not kill. He wanted them to rot, not die quickly. Percy could still move, though clumsily. He hesitated. "Mindy, that's not right. I really like her. How can I hurt her?" Diana trembled on the bed, her voice breaking as she pleaded, "Please don't. Percy, you said you loved me, didn't you?"

My heart raced as I peered out, half-expecting him to be standing there. The hallway was empty. “I’m fine! I’m coming!” I called back, my voice strained as I hurriedly left the room, leaving the door ajar as I’d found it. “Annabeth to me you guys are still going to the orphanage,” he asked and I nodded firmly. I plastered on a shaky smile and reached for my bag.

You're a girl too, just like me," I persisted, trying to reason with her. "Huh! We're not the same. You're from the group that remained strong while everyone else suffered during those chaotic times. You've got some nerve calling me out for not wanting to help you," she retorted angrily, tossing the pen in my direction. Percy swiftly intervened, catching it before it could hit me.

The driver was at the back seat, Penny climbed in to the other side of the back seat, with Poppy between them. Poppy sat as still as she could, her heart was banging against her chest like it was trying to get out. “I told you not to come,” Penelope said, still breathing heavy. “I told you, didn’t I?” Poppy didn’t speak, she didn’t think she could if she tried. “And look what you did.
