Someone walks toward me and crouches, their form blocking out the glare of the sun. Long, platinum hair dusts the ground as I slowly look up. “Look what the tide dragged in,” Petra purrs, her mouth pulled into a cat-like grin.

After what feels like hours, Petra eventually opens the door. I will never get used to the stark differences between her and her sister. While Celeste has fiery red hair that is often curly and messy, her sister, Petra, has long black hair that falls down her back neatly. Whenever I see her, it is in a tidy braid that falls over her shoulder. Both sisters have darkened eyes that look almost black, but Celeste's turn red when she is using her magic, and Petra's turn an icy shade of blue. Both sisters have wrinkles that line their eyes, which is the only indication of their age.

It was a weird contrast and it irked me. The woman herself was wearing a veil but I could tell she was pretty from her eyes. She had lustrous purple hair that I wasn't sure was natural and her eyes were as dark as night. Some of her body was covered while the rest were not, revealing her fair skin. This was Petra, the purple mist and she was even stronger than red. I walked in and took a seat with Esme standing beside me. all the while, Petra stared at me and Esme, her thoughts indescribable. I could sense a strange aura in here but I couldn't see anyone or anything out of place.

The ice spears pierced through her right chest, abdomen, and left leg, but Sherry still struggled to crawl forward. …I don’t understand. This is just a mock battle, Sherry. “Just rest,” I murmured. The two behind her were younger but they wore matching expressions, that particular combination of cruelty and amusement that I recognized immediately because I had been on the receiving end of it my entire life. "You're the omega they brought in," the tall one said. "Yes," I said. I kept my voice level and kept moving to the next hook. "From the Red Claw Pack," she said. "Yes." She stepped out of the doorway fully. The two behind her followed. "I'm Petra," she said. "I run through the kitchen corridor." "Nerissa," I said. "I know your name," she said. The way she said it made the name sound like something unpleasant she'd found on the bottom of her boot. "We all know your name."

Now this was Shania, the crazy wreck of a lady I somehow fell for. “You think I'm just gonna let you move on from me? I spent my years with you, I sacrificed my time for you, my life for you. You can't just blow me off, I deserve a second…” She went dangerously calm as she took a sudden pause and gulped heavily. “Remember our contracts, Alpha,” she said with scorn. “The buisness agreements we signed upon before I partnered and invested in your company. I could take it all away, I could pull out my investment. I am a shareholder anyway.”

The name Dmitri gave me is Petra. Not Damon's sister. The other Petra, the one who has been at the compound's communal table for months, the senior crew member whose last name I have had on a personnel file since she was contracted eighteen months ago and whose history I ran through standard checks and found clean. She is thirty-two years old, raised alone by her mother in a city four hours from here. She came to the compound because the affiliate network had a position and she needed work.
